Khabib Nurmagomedov doesn’t have to worry about cutting weight anymore. Thus, he has been looking bigger than usual. Subsequently, UFC commentator Joe Rogan and lightweight fighter Bobby Green had a little chat about Nurmagomedov’s appearance on the JRE podcast.

In the latest podcast episode, JRE MMA Show #121 With Bobby Green, Rogan asked Green about his last fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s protégé, Islam Makhachev.

After suggesting his issues making weight for the fight, Green said, “When I see Khabib, I was like the holy f***. What happened to you?”

Rogan offered, “He’s not fat, he’s just big. He’s not lean anymore, He’s 200 pounds.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov is living his best life after a dominating run in the UFC. Besides, he has been playing an important role in the success of his team. Coach Nurmagomedov is helping his teammate, Islam Makhachev, to become the next lightweight championship.

‘The Eagle’ retired early from the sport. Consequently, he had to relinquish the UFC lightweight title. Now, the Dagestan-born wants to bring the belt to his home country as his teammate Islam Makhachev makes a run for that UFC gold.

It is interesting to see the trajectory of both these Russian fighters; Both had to stack a gigantic win streak before they were involved in the title picture.

Joe Rogan on Khabib Nurmagomedov’s mentality

‘The Eagle’ became a household name when he called out Conor McGregor for getting a title shot at UFC 205. Nurmagomedov, who fought in the prelims, made an iconic call out that made him a star.

The Russian fighter continued to have issues with ‘The Notorious’, which eventually resulted in a mammoth fight at UFC 229.

Rogan talked about Nurmagomedov’s mentality and said, “He’s not playing games. Like, he’s not doing this for Instagram likes or for… He takes trash talk and all that stuff very seriously. This is all about honor for him.” 

Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor via fourth-round submission. This marked a legendary run that saw ‘The Eagle’ face two back-to-back interim champions as his title defense against Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje.
