The internet is a strange place. Not only has it changed the world irrevocably in the past two decades, but has the power to take little-known or unknown people and make them world famous. Joe Rogan is a clear example of this, as he has become the biggest podcast host in the world, all because of the internet. The person that has most recently taken over the internet is Hailey Welch, the ‘hawk-tuah’ girl, whose relationship advice has gone viral because of her fun personality and sense of humor. And just how much fame she has garnered over the past few days is apparent from the fact that she was being discussed on Joe Rogan’s podcast.

Hailey Welch became the darling of the internet after an interview she gave to a TikTok channel went viral. She has since been smartly trying to capitalize on the popularity of the meme, selling merch, and has been on a press tour. She has given numerous interviews since and has made memorable appearances on various podcasts and shows. Including at a Zack Bryan concert last week, where she went on stage to sing, much to the delight of Joe Rogan.

The UFC commentator gleefully discussed her appearance on his podcast and was delighted at the warm reception that she got. “Bro, first of all, I just saw an interview with her. She got on stage at the Zack Bryant show and she sang with him, you know, at the end he sings Revival, and he has people come on stage and sing with them,” a giddy Rogan told comedian Sam Tallent on episode #2175 of the JRE podcast.

“It’s a great show, he puts on an amazing show. So he brought her out there and she yells out hawk-tuah to the whole crowd. They all cheered, like who the f**k would have ever thought that would have happened,” the UFC commentator added.

In addition, the stand-up comic, who had apparently been reading up about her, also cleared up some misconceptions about her. He pointed out that since she was only 21 years old, all the rumors about her being a former teacher who had been fired were untrue. There were rumors that after Welch went viral, she was fired from her job as a schoolteacher. However, Rogan fact-checked this claim on his podcast, observing that she was too young to be a teacher, and was just a regular girl from Nashville.

“She’s funny, you know. Like even the way she says it ‘you get me,’ like the way she says it. She’s only 21, I was watching an interview with her, she’s only 21 she wasn’t a school teacher all that sh** that people say- she got fired, nope… It’s just a young girl who was just on the streets in Nashville and just went viral. But I love that we live in a time where that happens, like it’s such a strange time,” Rogan added, marveling at the age of the internet which had made such a thing possible for the first time in human history.

While a section of fans may not be very appreciative of Rogan’s stand-up routine, his specials always do well because of his huge fanbase. And Rogan, who hasn’t released any new material for the past six years, is setting up to release his eighth stand-up special, titled ‘Burn the Boats’ sometime this year.

Like his previous few specials, Rogan’s upcoming special will be released on Netflix. While not much else is known about it, based on the title alone, it seems the JRE podcast host is going to touch upon some controversial and hot-button issues in American culture.
