According to a section of fans, the fight between Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes was being largely dominated by the Brazilian. However, fans criticized Rogan and Cormier for calling the fight as if Pena were close to winning.
A user mentioned that even though the fight was one-sided, the commentary would make one believe Pena was on the verge of winning. However, the fan also lauded Pena for showing her toughness.
You would think listening to the commentary that Pena was winning or close to winning. That fight was about as one sided as you can get and yes I give Pena all the credit in the world for surviving and being one tough SOB. But commentary just sucked during the main.

Another user questioned Cormier on how he kept praising Pena even though she got dominated.
How do you keep saying how good Pena is as she's getting elbowed over and over and over in the face

One fan slammed the commentary team for their comments. The fan mentioned that even though Nunes dominated Pena, the commentary team kept praising the latter. The user also labeled the commentary team as ‘clowns.’
What is the deal with the commentary? Amanda destroyed that woman from bell to bell and all you clowns talked about is how awesome Pena is?!?!

A fan called out the bias of Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier. The fan mentioned while the duo glorified Pena; they snubbed the brilliant work of Amanda Nunes.
Why were you and Joe so biased towards Pena? Yes she is tough, but the commentary was not complimentary of Amanda. Yall just kept saying how Pena was so tough and going for subs. No talk of control time, damage, and submission defense for Amanda.

Another fan called out the commentary team for pretending Julianna Pena was doing well in the fight.
Why did y’all keep pretending Pena was competitive in this fight?

This is not the first time Rogan was called out for his work with the UFC. The veteran color commentator was previously criticized for interviewing a fighter after he got knocked out.
Joe Rogan was once criticized for interviewing Daniel Cormier
After being brutally knocked out at UFC 203, Alistair Overeem stood to do a post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. This interview between Rogan and Overeem was pretty awkward. Since then, the commentator decided to refrain from interviewing fighters lost by stoppages. However, Rogan broke that rule at UFC 214.
At UFC 214, Jon Jones defeated Daniel Cormier via TKO. Cormier, who seemed visibly disturbed, was interviewed by Rogan immediately after the fight. What followed next was Cormier bursting into tears over his performance while also seeming a bit clueless.
