The year was 2022 and Riley Gaines was the center of attraction for everyone. Gaines participated at the NCAA Women’s Championships in 2022 and was tied in fifth place with Lia Thomas. Thomas claims that the officials then decided to award the fifth place to Thomas without giving any “valid” explanation. She then spoke out against Thomas for being allowed to participate in the event and also started advocating against trans athletes being allowed into female sports. Her stance on the entire controversy has come with a fair share of criticism.
While speaking to Rogan, she shared how she had to take ‘Pronoun Lessons’ to which Rogan replied, ” Taught you how an actual she/ her. How do you use actual she/her pronouns? ” She then clarified what happened and replied, “We had to go through these interview questions. They threw a question at us if we didn’t answer their fake interview questions to their, standard we had to go through it again.”
After listening to the entire episode, both Rogan and her guest, Gaines, laughed it out. Rogan is known to bring up guests from varied professions and more often than not, they have quite controversial takes on subjects.Regardless, Gaines has since taken to her social media to thank the UFC color commentator for his opportunity.

During her appearance on the JRE podcast, Gaines shared how one incident changed her life. She talked about the year when she was invited to campus by Harvard’s Network of Enlightened Women, a conservative women’s club and the students there had demonstrated against her, alleging transphobia. Rogan, who has previously also discussed the topic of transgender athletes in his podcast, seemed shocked by it. However, Gaines thanked the 56-year-old for the opportunity and took her X (formerly Twitter) to share a message.
The 23-year-old wrote, “Received thousands of messages of support and encouragement since the Joe Rogan podcast dropped. So many have reached out to say they had no idea these things are happening. Thank you, @joerogan!! Everyday Americans are waking up,” Trans athletes participating in sports traditionally reserved for cisgender women has been a subject of debate for some time now. While some advocate for it, others condemn it. Should there be more education on the subject of gender and non-binary athletes? Let us know in the comments.
