During a recent JRE episode with guest Derek from ‘More Plates More Dates’, Joe Rogan praised ‘South Park’s creative comedy chops. The show has been around for over 26 years and is regarded as one of the funniest shows in the world. However, ‘South Park’ tends to push the boundaries often. Rogan said, “They’re [shows like South Park] national treasure. They go hard.”

Joe Rogan mentioned the decline of comedy movies and TV shows like ‘South Park’, leading him to praise the show makers for continuing to create the same kind of content that they used to since they first aired in 1997. “They’re so important because they’re like one of the few people out there that’s like willing [to surpass certain boundaries] in this day and age, where you can’t even make comedy movies anymore,” the 56-year-old added.

In addition to ‘South Park’, Rogan also mentioned Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr. starrer, ‘Tropic Thunder’. It was an iconic movie, which is regarded as a cult classic by many viewers. Despite that, Joe Rogan thinks fans will never get to witness such a movie in modern times. “There’s so few comedy movies being made. You’re never gonna see a ‘Tropic Thunder’ today,” he added. The JRE host even mentioned the consequences of making such comedy movies.

Joe Rogan gave a shout-out to many movies. From the iconic ‘The Hangover’ franchise or the 2007 hit, ‘Superbad’, he mentioned how long it has been since comedy movies like these came out. “It was like ‘The Hangover’, ‘Superbad’. I mean, it’s been a long f***ing time [since good comedy movies were made].”

However, the growing mass withdrawal of support from people and notable personalities leading to ‘cancel culture’ will always be a barrier for movies of the funny genre. The JRE host believes that the movie makers will face backlash. “You can’t make movies like that anymore. Just too many people come after you,” Joe Rogan added.
