The broadcast team combo of Joe Rogan, Daniel Cormier, and Jon Anik has delivered many memorable moments in the commentary booth. Their reactions to the action in the cage have a separate fan base of their own. UFC 284 is just around the corner with a historic champion vs. champion fight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski. However, the iconic trio will not be present to call the fight to determine the UFC’s pound-for-pound king.

UFC confirmed the broadcast team lineup as per ‘MMA Fighting’ on Tuesday and it does not feature the fan-favorite trio. Instead, two UFC veterans will step in to fill the gap.

According to the latest reports, both Daniel Cormier and Joe Rogan are out of the commentary team for UFC 284. Rogan stopped attending PPVs outside the US years ago. ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ host has his podcast duties and stand-up schedules, keeping him busy on home soil.

Cormier’s absence, however, comes as a surprise. The former double champion has not missed many of the recent PPVs. The 43-year-old was also present when Makhachev won the lightweight title in Abu Dhabi last year. He interviewed Makhachev post-fight and held the microphone for Khabib Nurmagomedov as the Dagestanis laid out the UFC 284 challenge for Volkanovski.

Instead of Cormier and Rogan, UFC veterans Michael Bisping and Dominick Cruz will join Jon Anik in the booth. Cormier has previously faced accusations of biased commentary. These sentiments were all the more pronounced in the lead-up to UFC 280 where his teammate Makhachev fought.

However, it is unclear if it had anything to do with Cormier’s absence from Makhachev’s maiden title defense. While DC and Rogan are stepping away from UFC 284, Anik is going there with well-wishes from Conor McGregor himself.

Jon Anik has been updating fans about his trip to Perth to commentate UFC 284. The 44-year-old had a long journey with multiple flights. He posted an update after reaching Sydney and Conor McGregor had a hearty response to him.

In a response to Anik’s tweet, McGregor wrote, “It is summer in Oz Jon boy! Enjoy!” The Irishman has always been a fan of Anik’s work in the UFC and offered a gentle reminder of something to look forward to at the end of the long journey.

With the final details being confirmed, UFC 284 is packed and ready to go. Who are you picking to win their fights at UFC 284? Who do you think will win the champion vs. champion bout? And what are your thoughts on the commentary lineup?
