As promised, the UFC 280 maintained the high energy with matches that took the breaths of the fans away. Moments, where all eyes were focused on the Octagon, were numerous. Such was the case with the bantamweight fight between Petr Yan and Sean O’Malley.
The fight was so edge-to-edge that even the judges were not unanimous in their decision. Joe Rogan revealed that had mistaken the winner of the bantamweight division. He believed that Petr Yan would emerge victorious, instead of O’Malley.

Joe Rogan is America’s beloved podcaster and the fan-favorite commentator at the Ultimate Fighting Championship. On multiple occasions, he has showcased his knowledge of the sport and proven his worth as a commentator.
Although he has amassed great knowledge, sometimes the result of his judgment was not what people expected. It happened to Joe Rogan himself, as his prediction on Petr Yan vs. Sean O’Malley fight wasn’t right.
Rogan thought Petr Yan won the bout
‘The Mac Life’ official recently shared a post on their Instagram, taking Joe Rogan’s point about the bantamweight fight into focus. They captioned, “Joe Rogan says he scored the Sean O’Malley vs. Petr Yan bout in Yan’s favour, but admits there’s an area of the judging that means it’s not out of the question to score it Suga’s way.”

“It was a very close fight and he definitely hurt Petr on multiple occasions…,” they quoted Rogan in the post. It further read, “The question is how much is the takedown worth, how much is control worth? I’m not denying that I thought Petr Yan won, because I did think he won at the end of it, but takedowns without damage versus stand up with damage?”
Joe Rogan: Fans reacted to his statement
Such admittance from great personalities in combat sports indeed split the fans into two. Many of the fans stood beside Rogan and agreed with his point, while others weren’t happy.

Here’s what fans had to say:
- I guess this bullsh*t from Joe applies only for Sean
- Why does his opinion matter? He’s not a fighter and never trained in his life. He’s just a commentator at most.
- Lol Joe really flipped the script on take downs and control since Aljo vs Yan
- Joe, come on, man, you don’t need to ride them anymore
- Joe Rogan is the best. Good point
- And joe knows his sh*t
- Joe rogan gets the respect as if he’s a fighter just because he did touch butt in the park level tae kwon do
- Joe Rogan riding the fence; what else is new?
- Joe Rogan is a company man and he knows Dana is building Sean as the next star. Even Sean O’Malley knew he lost the fight and every MMA outlet had scored the fight for Yan. Only fans that disagree are the casual Sean O’Malley fans and let’s be honest there is a reason why they are casuals.
- Rogan doesn’t even know half the fighters on the roster anymore
