Joe Rogan has many friends outside of the combat sports world. He has invited many of them on his podcast several times over the course of the show. One such friend is famous comedian Bert Kreischer, who wasn’t sure of Rogan’s sexual orientation when they first met each other.

Bert Kreischer and Joe Rogan are great friends, which is evident in his repeated appearance on the podcast. They are known for annually participating together in the “sober October.” However, Kreischer first thought that the 55-year-old podcast host and UFC commentator was gay.

Bert Kreischer didn’t want to be friends with Joe Rogan at the beginning

The 50-year-old comedian appeared in a recent episode of Logan Paul‘s ‘Impaulsive’ podcast and shared a story related to his friend, Joe Rogan. Kreischer initially had some misconceptions about the 55-year-old in the beginning. He didn’t intend to become friends with him at first. Kreischer said, “I had a bad run-in with the dude [Joe Rogan]. I didn’t want any friends, and I was like, ‘I’m good.”

Kreischer mentioned that he received a phone call from Rogan when he was about to watch the popular TV show, ‘Game of Thrones’, with his wife. He added, “Rogan called, and he goes, ‘What are you doing?’ I said I was just hanging out and he goes, ‘Come to the icehouse and I was like, ‘I think I am into the night.”

Bert Kreischer was hesitant to follow through with Joe Rogan’s invitation. But he decided to accept the invite after fellow comedian Tom Segura insisted on him coming to the icehouse.

Kreischer thought Rogan was gay

After the insistence, Bert Kreischer decided to visit Joe Rogan and co. and started doing a session of the million-dollar JRE podcast. He said, “We do some of the podcasts [and] I am getting ready to go on stage, and Rogan comes up with two shots of Jack Daniels and two beers.” After Rogan gave Krischer the drinks, he went on to explain that he was trying to be the 50-year-old comedian’s friend.

“And he’s [Rogan] like, ‘We like you’re a good guy. We’re not gonna hurt you, we won’t let you down, and will always be here for you, but you got to let us be your friend you gotta trust that we won’t hurt you,” said Bert Kreischer.

Kreischer mentioned that he felt weird about it. He thought Rogan was gay due to his over-friendly attitude. He said, “When Joe wanted to be friends with me, I was like, ‘You must be gay’. Like, why would you wanna be friends with another man? That didn’t make sense to me. I was like, ‘Either you are using him or you wanna f*** him’… Why would you wanna hang out with him? And then Joe never tried to kiss me once.”

Apart from this misconception, Kreischer has always spoken highly of Joe Rogan. He claims that the famous podcast host is a generous person in his day-to-day life as well as a professional.
