Alex Pereira stunned the world at UFC 303 with a second-round KO win against Jiri Prochazka to defend his light-heavyweight title. The duo accepted the fight on short notice as Conor McGregor pulled out of the clash due to his injuries. Ahead of his bout against Pereira, Prochazka made a statement which caught the entire UFC community off-guard. What is it, you ask? The former light-heavyweight champion accused Pereira of using black magic ahead of his fights to win. Now, the eagle-eyed fans have found a new conspiracy to add to the list of MMA superstitions!
Yes, you got that right, Prochazka accused Pereira of using shamanic rituals for his success. “I think he believes a lot in the help of spiritual things, and that’s something that I think he can’t fight without because I want to keep that in a clear line. Just the sport performance, pure performance, man versus man, but I think he doesn’t know how to fight without that,” said Prochazka in a conversation with the MMAHour.
This statement by the ‘Samurai’ took the MMA community by surprise as no one was expecting it to come from him. Well, the match has happened and Prochazka has tasted defeat once again. However, the Brazilian had a response to his opponent’s claims. At the post-fight presser, Pereira said, “Just so he knows, the same god that blessed us is the one that protects us. I prayed a lot for him and for me to be well after this fight.”

After the UFC 303, new peculiar statistics have come forward. The community found out that the only time Pereira had tasted defeat in his championship run was against Israel Adesanya and that too when he was not wearing any face paint or any of his tribal ornaments.
The revelation may no͏t hold much signifi͏cance, but ͏it͏ st͏an͏ds͏ as͏ a͏ myst͏ery ͏in it͏sel͏f, ͏leav͏ing the community equally flabbergas͏ted by ͏the statistics͏. L͏et’s take a look at what ͏MMA fans are thinking about this eerie͏ fact.
MMA community reacts to the mysterious reason why Alex Pereira lost to Israel Adesanya
Jiri Prochazka was the first fighter who accused Alex Pereira of witchcraft. Ahead of their bout, when the media asked him about it, he said, “Yes everybody knows that he is doing these rituals ahead of his fight everybody can feel that what’s around him and what’s going on Alex can’t fight without that. That something that he’s been using normally in fights.” Was he right all along? That’s what one fan asked.
“Jiri was right?”
Well, it must be noted that Israel Adesanya has fought Pereira since their kickboxing days and it could be said that they know each other better than the others. A fan quoted that Adesanya is the best opponent for Alex Pereira:
“Nah Izzy is the only fighter that can stand with Alex, izzy has great fight iq and defense to counter alex”
Alex Pereira has yet to comment on these accusations. However, why does he use such makeup and attire before his fights? Well, that’s because he represents the Pataxó people of the Siratã Mantxó reservation in his fights. One fan joked along these lines and wrote,
“chama confirmed to be dark brazilian magic”
Furthermore, a social media user joked that Pereira never met his shaman ahead of his second Adesanya fight.
“He didn’t see the shaman that fight either”

Among the avalanche of jokes, one fan had a rational explanation. Israel Adesanya has a record of 1-3 against Alex Pereira. Their rivalry has been one of the best in recent times. A social media user believes that Pereira lost that bout against Adesanya because he was drained from the weight cut:
“This just goes to show that Pereira was Super drained that fight. Had a bad weight cut. Izzy loses 9 out of 10 times”
Not soon after, one fan debunked this theory. He pointed out that Alex Pereira beat Jan Błachowicz without his face paint as well:
