UFC veteran Jim Miller registered another win last weekend after just one fight in 2023. He is now scheduled to fight Bobby Green at UFC 300. Meanwhile, as Miller gears up for his next fight, Daniel Cormier recently discussed ‘A-10’s admission into the Hall of Fame. Interestingly, he doesn’t think Jim Miller has done enough to get a place among the elites.

Jim Miller has been in the UFC since 2008. In his 15+ years in Dana White‘s promotion, the 40-year-old amassed a record of 26 wins and 16 losses and 1 no-contests (37-17 overall). However, Daniel Cormier doesn’t think that should be the reason for his admission into the Hall of Fame. Let’s see what the former double champion had to say.

Daniel Cormier and Ryan Clark appeared in yet another edition of the ‘DC & RC Show’, discussing the Hall of Fame situation of Jim Miller. The former double champion had been opposing this decision for a while now. He doubled down on the fact that spending too much time in the UFC should not be the reason why Miller gets into the Hall of Fame.

“I don’t feel like time served immediately puts you in the Hall of Fame… He’s got more wins than anyone else… but I just don’t feel time served puts you in the Hall of Fame,” Cormier stated. He further turned his attention to Miller’s record of most wins. He claimed that someday or the other, that record was going to get broken. DC added, “The wins, though, I do believe at a point, will get topped. And if you put people in the Hall of Fame based on those records and then they get topped, then what are they in the Hall of Fame for?”

Daniel Cormier also stated that Miller may have 26 wins on his record. However, he also had an astronomical amount of losses, 17, to be exact. “He has the most wins in the UFC’s history with 26. He’s fought 43 times. RC, he lost 17 times in the UFC,” the former double champion argued.

Nevertheless, Daniel Cormier had a lot of respect for what Jim Miller had done throughout his career. However, he doesn’t feel like his recent win over Gabriel Benitez is enough for him to secure a spot in the Hall of Fame. Cormier claims that something big has to happen if he has to join the UFC elites.’

“I’m not saying that Jim doesn’t have an unbelievable resume… if Jim does get in [the Hall of Fame], something big is going to happen down the line. I still don’t know that the win last weekend changes much,” ‘DC’ added. Meanwhile, the former double champion also mentioned the time when Miller could have been cut from the UFC. Let’s have a look at that front.

Miller’s losing streak could have ushered him out of the UFC

While talking about his losses, Daniel Cormier mentioned how the UFC has cut fighters in the past after they’ve lost a couple of fights consecutively. Hence, Jim Miller would have found himself in a similar position. ‘A-10’ once lost four fights in a row. But at that time, it was okay for fighters to lose like that. Cormier further added, “The UFC could cut you if you lose two fights in a row. Jim was fighting at a time when you had the opportunity to lose more fights.”

Cormier claims that a promotion like the UFC has every right to cut a fighter. That is more relevant when a fighter is on a losing streak. However, Jim Miller survived that predicament and his career was hanging in the balance. “But if you lost two, three fights in a row, they had the right to cut you…he’s lost four in a row… So it’s like he was kind of riding that border riding that fine line,” Daniel Cormier further added.

Daniel Cormier believes that the Hall of Fame is there for a reason and it should be admissible to fighters who’ve made an impact. Nevertheless, there have been many fighters who’ve retired and did not find a spot in the Hall of Fame. But people continue to recognize their contributions to sport, and Jim Miller could be one of those fighters.
