Llontop’s journey to the UFC

James Llontop’s journey to the UFC started with standing out at Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023, where he scored a dominant unanimous decision over Malik Lewis, a two-time competitor on the show. At the post-fight press conference the Peruvian had revealed, “I knew this was going to happen at some point in my career, and we were able to achieve it. We’re here in the UFC, and now another stage of my career starts.”

However, things took a turn when he made his Octagon debut against Chris Padilla at UFC Vegas 91 earlier this year. Getting caught in a submission in Round 1 in his first fight, ‘Goku’ didn’t let it end there. He returned to the Octagon in August, where he narrowly lost a split decision to Viacheslav Borshchev.
