Jamahal Hill suffered a humiliating TKO loss to Alex Pereira at UFC 300. ‘Sweet Dreams’, a former champion, who had vacated his title after rupturing his Achilles heel last year, caught one of ‘Poatan’s’ legendary left hand, which put him on the canvas. The Brazilian followed up with a series of hammer fists on the downed Hill until the referee stepped in to stop the bout. Most fighters, of course, would take at least two to three months off to allow their brain to recover from the concussion that such a loss doubtlessly entails. Not Hill, however. The Chicago native demanded a fight from the UFC just one day after being knocked out.

“I went to them [the UFC to demand a fight]… Sunday I told my manager ‘I still feel good, I feel ready to slide back into a fight’. Monday I got on another call with him and he got on a call with Mick and by Tuesday had a contract on the way,” he said in a recent interview. And Hill certainly got his wish. In a move that has most fans worried, ‘Sweet Dreams’ is scheduled to fight #8 ranked Khalil Rountree on the co-main event of UFC 303.

On being asked if he had been medically cleared to fight so soon, Hill said that he chose to ignore the medical advice since he had not been knocked out cold by the legendary Brazilian. “I wasn’t knocked out. I got hit with a good punch. Then I went down. I was defending, and then I got hit with some good follow-up shots, and [it] knocked my equilibrium off. I was not unconscious at no point,” Hill added in an interaction with MiddleEasy.

Jamahal Hill will face Khalil Rountree at UFC 303. The event will, of course, be headlined by the UFC’s prodigal son, Conor McGregor returning to the octagon after three years of inactivity. And while all eyes will undoubtedly be on the return of MMA’s biggest star, Hill vs. Rountree is expected to be a banger.

Knockout expected in Jamahal Hill vs. Khalil Rountree

Hill, of course, is a veritable knockout artist. The former champion gets straight to work and is willing to stand in the pocket and trade heavy blows with his opponents, whatever the consequences may be. Both his pro-MMA losses have come via first-round knockout. In addition, four of his six UFC wins have come via knockout. Rountree, too, doesn’t waste any time, with 69% of his wins coming via knockout.

‘War Horse’ is currently riding a five-fight win streak, and looks ready to step up to higher competition. And a win over Hill will help Rountree not only break into the top five of the division but get straight into the title mix. Since the #8 light heavyweight has not fought anyone of Hill’s level yet, most are favoring the former champion to win.

However, given that Hill is coming off a tough loss to Pereira, as well as the stylistic matchup between the two, nothing could be said for certain. Except, perhaps, that someone is getting knocked out.
