The UFC has seen its fair share of heated rivalries, both inside and outside the Octagon. And among the more notable ones currently is the Alex Pereira vs Jamahal Hill rivalry. Jamahal Hill’s sole focus right now is securing a rematch with Alex Pereira. The former light heavyweight champion believes he was wronged by the current champion in their memorable UFC 300 title fight.

Fans will recall Hill being knocked out cold in the first round after Herb Dean almost paused the fight, but ‘Sweet Dreams’ insists that the Brazilian’s victory was also aided by another development that happened before the fight. He has now come forward to reveal how another, lesser-known factor might have given ‘Poatan’ an unfair advantage resulting in his loss.

During their title fight, Hill was caught early in the opening round, put to sleep by a left hook that dramatically ended the fight. While Pereira’s knockout was impressive, Hill insists that the circumstances leading to the punch were suspect. He argues that Pereira used a break in the action to close the distance between them unfairly, allowing him to land the decisive blow. This belief has fueled Hill’s desire for redemption, and he’s adamant about proving that he can take Pereira down in a rematch.

However, ‘Sweet Dreams’ revealed he was making a return to the Octagon after an injury. The former UFC light heavyweight champion suffered a devastating injury to his knee, an issue that required surgery and put a halt to his momentum in the division. Despite the setback, Hill worked extremely hard to make a comeback. In a recent interview, he pointed out how exactly he picked up the fight and made sure he was 100 percent walking into it.

ACD MMA shared the news with the fans and tweeted, “I don’t like to make excuses but was I 100% where I needed to be as far as the injury goes? Anybody who knows about Achilles surgery knows that 9 months isn’t ideal. But I took the fight and banked on myself.” The pair was recently involved in an altercation at the UFC PI. The altercation also caught the attention of Hill’s next rival Jiri Prochazka.  In a recent interview, Jamahal Hill explained that the tension between him and Alex Pereira at the UFC Performance Institute wasn’t something he deliberately tried to escalate.

Although Jamahal Hill has been taking a lot of heat lately for his denial of Pereira’s victory as legitimate, being called ‘salty’ and ‘delusional’, he stands firm and resolute in his claims. He didn’t win fans over when he walked over to Pereira at the UFC PI and challenged him, only to walk away when ‘Poatan’ obliged him. When we take a look at the footage of the altercation, it was ‘Sweet Dreams’ who approached ‘Poatan’, posturing at him. In return, ‘Poatan’ threw a pair of gloves towards the former champion’s way, asking him to get inside the cage to settle their differences once and for all. Let us take a look at what Jiri Prochazka had to say about the whole incident.

If there’s one thing we know about the Czech fighter, it’s that he embodies the warrior mindset, particularly by following the way of the Samurai. Jiri Prochazka stated that Jamahal Hill had the opportunity to resolve the tension by fighting Pereira, but chose not to. He then labeled Hill as

“not a warrior” and expressed his support for Pereira in the situation. During a conversation with MMA fighting, he shared his honest opinion about the clash. He said, “When he wanted to fight Alex and to speak with him a lot, he had to go to the cage and fight him there, but he didn’t do that,”. Prochazka kept his response to the incident short and sweet while taking a slight dig at his upcoming opponent. He further added, “So, nonsense. Nonsense… Some of these guys [are] like… playing to be warriors, but they are not. That’s all.” Now, Jamahal Hill must turn his attention to Jiri Prochazka, as the two are set to face off at UFC 311 in January.
