Well, after close inspection of every round, the former bantamweight champion believes that the judges should have awarded him rounds 1,3, and 5, “I literally won that round. It wasn’t even that controversial,” said O’Malley. His persistent call out to the UFC judges appeared to have irked former light-heavyweight champ, Jamahal Hill.
The former champion even urged the promotion to leak the fight online so that the fans can judge for themselves, “I’m going to ask the UFC if they could please post that fight on YouTube. UFC 306 was filled with excitement, anxiety, and heartbreak for many, and one of them is the former bantamweight champion, Sean O’Malley. After losing his title to Merab Dvalishvili, ‘Suga’ couldn’t believe that he lost the fight. The MMA community believes that he was completely dominated by the Georgian but O’Malley believes otherwise. The fighter accepted his lackluster performance after the fight but immediately changed his stance once he got back to his dressing room.
The judging controversy has been gaining prominence for quite some time, with many fighters calling out referees and judges for biased decisions. Regardless, one of the victims of early stoppages(In his own accord), Jamahal Hill has come forward to give his thoughts on the judging controversy. While having a conversation with Aljamain Sterling on his YouTube handle, Hill said, “I could kind of see how they gave him two, the fifth round, the fifth round with the body, the body kick to the body a little bit, kind of., but we go around, but if we’re going around by round, round by round basis, there wasn’t much, there wasn’t, there wasn’t much, you know what I mean? Nothing.”
He further added, “Well, there wasn’t much in that fifth round. , took him down that round. He did take, he did take him down, but, you know, a takedown is just a position change, of course, you know what I mean? But he landed some strikes in that. He did land, he did land some strikes, but here, but we talking, we talking damage. We, if we, if we going, I’m just, and I’m just looking at this objectively, right? So, we talking, if we’re talking like damage, who, who looked like they, they had a better chance at finishing in that round?
Jamahal Hill has been inactive after his last defeat against Alex Pereira at UFC 300. The former light-heavyweight champion believes that he could have won the fight but it was an early stoppage from the referee that cost him the fight. He has been following Pereira’s journey since then. Interestingly, ‘SweetDreams’ asserted that he would be in attendance at UFC 307, “Yeah I’m gonna go out there just because it makes sense, it affects what’s next for me and things like that. I haven’t changed my tune, it’s a weird booking but it is what it is,” said Hill.

Well, Hill’s subtle support to O’Malley is quite palpable considering that he was the subject to the same pain. Regardless, The promotion will not change their decision, so O’Malley has to accept that he now has two losses on his record, with the defeat to ‘The Machine’ being the worst of his career. However, is Hill the only one, who supports O’Malley? Maybe not.
Chael Sonnen turns his support to ‘Suga’
Sean O’Malley went on a rant to assert that he had not lost the match rather it was the judges who played with the decisions. “I challenge all you little dorks that think I got my ass kicked to rewatch that fight. I know it’s hard to be non-biased, but rewatch that fight, turn the commentary off, and tell me I did not win that fight. I won the first, third, and fifth,” said O’Malley. This was taken lightly by the MMA community, who called out the former champion for lackluster performance.
