In the direct aftermath of his UFC 300 loss to Alex Pereira, Jamahal Hill may not have said much. But one thing was clear: he didn’t like how Pereira got around to knocking him out. Less than a month after that fateful night, though, Hill spoke up; or rather, he wrote, “[Alex], you really set up a punch you couldn’t get to without a weird, confusing moment and did some weak sh*t, but [it’s] OK because you will fight me again…” Well, with Pereira’s next fight at UFC 303 etching closer, ‘Sweet Dreams’ has spoken again.

Alex Pereira is set to fight Jiri Prochazka in another light heavyweight title defense on Saturday. Needless to say, he’s attracting all the attention possible. Starting with accusations of practicing witchcraft before going into a fight, the ‘Poatan’ has now been accused of cheating in his UFC 300 fight against Hill. The American believes the fight wouldn’t have ended the way it did had it not been for one thing Pereira did. And, well, Hill wasn’t the only one to address the Brazilian’s allegedly dirty tactics. Joe Rogan shed light on them, too.

On April 13, the man with the hands of stone defeated Hill via a knockout punch and defended his light heavyweight championship belt. However, more than two months later, the American discussed the fight again, claiming Pereira wrongfully closed the distance between them during their fight. Promising that this would be the last time he addressed the fight, Hill said, “I’m literally only saying this to say what happened. Me taking a loss is not a problem for me at all. I’m simply saying what happened.”

Hill recalled when, just a few seconds before he was knocked out in the first round, Pereira signaled the referee about being hit in the groin. But when Herb Dean stepped forward to pause the fight and let Pereira reset the game due to a potential foul, “He takes the angle and closes the distance, and then tells the ref, ‘No, no. I’m good,’” Hill explained. But that was the moment Pereira was apparently waiting for. He closed the gap between him and Hill and sent forth a fist that sent the American tumbling down.

Jamahal Hill questioned, “Why’d you signal to the ref then in the first place? What was the point of you signaling to the ref in that moment if the kick didn’t hit you low and you didn’t want it stopped? Yet you grab low. You signal to the ref to let him know that you got kicked. But all of a sudden, you don’t want the fight to be stopped.” Having said his piece on the matter and explaining why he felt Alex Pereira cheated, Hill wished his rival well for his fight against Jiri Prochazka – albeit quite ominously.

The 33-year-old said, “Best of luck to you in this rematch with Jiri because if you lose, I don’t give a f**k if they give me a title shot. It’s me and you. If you win, [I’m going to] starch the next guy, and I see you soon. If you lose, I’ll see you real soon.” It’s quite evident that Hill wants a rematch against the Brazilian more than anything. And former MMA fighter Chael Sonnen seems to love the motivation. He wrote, “Straight FIRE.”

That said, Jamahal Hill wasn’t the only person to address Pereira’s tactics at UFC 300. UFC color commentator Joe Rogan had his own say, and it seems like he sided with ‘Sweet Dreams.’

Joe Rogan reveals Alex Pereira’s dirty tactics

On episode #155 of the JRE MMA Show, Rogan sat with Max Holloway and broke down the fight between Hill and Pereira. Unsurprisingly, the duo talked about the strong punch that knocked Hill down in the first round. The JRE host pointed out that Pereira didn’t step back while waiting for Dean’s signal to re-engage. He simply double-hopped to close the gap and execute the final blow.

Rogan said, “Yeah, this is a real moment. Now, I’m not making any excuses for Jamahal, and Jamahal can take a loss as good as anybody… but he’s got a point here. It’s not a perfect point because they had engaged again but Pereira had closed that gap to a point where Jamahal wasn’t letting him do that early.” He further stated that he would have liked it better if the fighters were made to have a better reset.
