Jailton Almeida is all set to take on Alexander Romanov at UFC 302. Boasting a record of 20-3-0, the Brazilian mixed martial artist is ready to take another win and redeem himself from his last loss. With rank 7 in the UFC heavyweight rankings, Almeida has impressed the fight fans with his previous fights. However, ‘Malhadinho’ couldn’t stand up to his name in his last contest.

Despite 20 wins in the MMA realm, the Brazilian has faced three defeats in his career. Out of these, two came before he entered the Octagon. Let’s dive into the fighter’s losses and his winning streak in the UFC.

Despite his impressive record in the world of combat sports, Almeida has faced a couple of defeats, with only two of them outside of the UFC. The first defeat came 7 years ago, in 2017, when he was pitted against Tyago Moreira, in Fight On 5. Almeida already had four wins before he faced his first-ever defeat. Unfortunately for the Brazilian, the defeat came within 16 seconds after the commencement of the fight. It was a knockout punch from Moreira that took down ‘Malhadinho’.

Following the first loss, Almeida went on to impress the audience with yet another victory, as he defeated Anderson Nascimento via a rear naked choke in the first round. However, the victory was short-lived. Right after his fifth victory, came the second defeat. It was when Almeida faced Bruno Assis in Shooto Brasil 80, back in 2018. Almeida lost the bout via unanimous decision. And thereafter, he went on a long winning spree.

However, mixed martial arts was not the only sport where Almeida displayed his excellence. His breathtaking winning streak also extended to the realm of grappling. He entered Submission Circus in 2021 and dominated the arena. After five consecutive wins in the promotion, the Brazilian faced one defeat in grappling, when he lost to Rene Pessoa in 2022. Pessoa claimed the victory via a rear naked choke in the first round. Thereafter, the fighter claimed victory after victory, till his last loss.

‘Malhadinho’s only defeat in UFC

Almeida entered the realm of UFC back in 2022 when he debuted against Parker Porter. Needless to say, the Brazilian fighter snatched a phenomenal win, displaying his superior skills in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. However, he lost the bout against Curtis Blaydes, at UFC 299 by KO.

Without a doubt, Almeida established himself in the MMA promotion with great acts in the Octagon. But as the second round of his fight against Blaydes began, he was taken down with a flurry of hammer fists after about 30 seconds crossed on the clock. The referee had no option but to declare Blaydes as the victor. Impressively, this is the only defeat that Almeida tasted in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

With a bout against Alexander Volkov canceled, the heavyweight contender is now expected to land against Romanov. But would he claim a win, or face a second defeat in the UFC, is something that only time can tell.

No doubt, Almeida’s presence in the UFC has greatly impressed the fans. After all, he went on an amazing five-fight winning streak before facing a defeat against Blaydes. His first win against Porter came with a majestic rear naked choke in the first round. The second win in the streak came at UFC 279 when he faced Anton Turkalj. It did seem like the Brazilian’s favorite submission technique was the RNC, as he made Turkalj, too, submit with it. Soon after, Almeida faced Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC 283. The Brazilian claimed a victory yet again, but this time, with a TKO by ground and pound.

Next in line was Jairzinho Rozenstruik, who experienced the number 7 UFC heavyweight’s patented rear naked choke, at UFC on ABC 4. This marked the Brazilian fighter’s 4th consecutive win. However, the fifth win over Derrick Lewis, back in 2023, marked the last victory in his five-fight winning streak. Although Lewis gave a tough fight to Almeida, the Brazilian won via unanimous decision.
