“Izzy Will Embarrass This Guy”: Fans Frustrated at “Purple Belt” Khamzat Chimaev’s “One Coach That Works in McDonald’s” Taunt on Israel Adesanya

Calling out fighters and having a way with the mic is one thing but staying true to every word and beating your all opponents is quite another. Despite recent controversies and the cutting-weight fiasco, Khamzat Chimaev still remains one of the most explosive fighters in his division. An asset to the UFC, the news is that he is looking to move up to the middleweight division to fight the ‘top guys’.

Now that Chimaev is moving to the Middleweight division, he is gunning for the top dog – Israel Adesanya. An old picture of Adesanya receiving the purple belt in BJJ set him off. This comment was reshared along with the original picture and the fans went berserk. While most were calling him out for ‘talking too much and fighting too less’, some fans agreed with what Chimaev had to say about the whole situation.

Khamzat Chimaev is a confident fighter who believes he is better than most of his opponents if not all. He is a fearless warrior in the ring. Upon seeing the purple BJJ belt being conferred on Adesanya before him, the undefeated Welterweight blew his gasket. He commented, “How he could get that purple belt before me??? He never submitted someone in his life. Maybe he got that belt from one coach that works in McDonald’s.“.

The comment section was filled with comments against Chimaev while there were those that were for him as well. “But israel actually fight and khamzat not” said one while another said, “Izzy will embarrass this guy“. Annoyed with his lack of professionalism, one fan commented, “People have to worry about themselves and maybe he would get one” while another said, “At this point, Khamzat talks way too much, he doesn’t even fight anymore”. 

Despite all the criticism, there were a few who stood by Chimaev and what he said. Comments like, “Facts lmao“, “who give him we have to check that man“, and “Damn khamzat just 10-8 Izzy with that comment” countered the hate that the fighter was receiving. “Stop saying that he doesn’t fight the reason why he doesn’t fight is because no one wants to fight him. He’s a nightmare matchup for anybody. He got good striking, and probably the most dominant wrestler in the entire organization“, said one fan, rooting for the Welterweight fighter.

Khamzat Chimaev is a really popular UFC fighter. However, when he failed to make weight, he lost a lot of that clout. The undefeated fighter has been training night and day, pushing his boundaries ever since. Recently, Chimaev took the decision to climb up to Middleweight and has decided to call out the King of the division, Israel Adesanya. UFC President, Dana White confirmed that Chimaev is indeed planning on moving up to Middleweight and that he will be fighting the top guys.

Adesanya and Chimaev have been low-key beefing since then. The social media wars have only just begun. After Chimaev called him out, Adesanya responded as well.
