Israel Adesanya had his revenge at UFC 287. After years of being dominated in the results column by Alex Pereira. ‘The Stylebender’ finally scored a ‘W’ and it was a big deal for him. It showed in his celebration how desperately he wanted this fight and the bad blood spilled into a controversy when Adesanya mocked Alex Pereira’a son after his father was knocked out. While Adesanya fans counted the victory as complete revenge against ‘The Poatan’. Videos have now surfaced on the internet that show that Pereira’s camp didn’t think the same.

While Israel Adesanya’s hand was being raised as the winner, Pereira’s coach made a public gesture that showed his defiance and pride in his fighter. He waved his hands displaying the digits 3 and one with fingers on each hand to show how Pereira leads the scoreline despite the loss. However, fans have now reacted, and it appears all they care about is the most recent performance and not the past.

Fans back Adesanya as the better fighter

Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira started with kickboxing. They fought twice in Glory kickboxing, leaving the score line at 2-0. When Alex Pereira came to the UFC as a challenger against the highflying Kiwi fighter, it was being assumed to be the fight where Adesanya will settle past records. Adesanya came close to winning at UFC 281, and Alex Pereira was on the brink of being knocked out until the tables turned. Fans have now reacted to Pereira’s coach’s gesture. A fan commented, ““1-1 in mma yet Izzy is running from the rematch, wants nothing to do with it.”. Another fan mentioned how he felt Adesanya’s loss at UFC 281 was a robbery. He commented, “Really it’s 2-2 tht first fight was a robbery.

A different user mentioned how all that mattered was the recent fight and not the history. His comment read,You are only as good as your last fight. Another fan commented, “3-1 = 2 time world champion” highlighting a coincidental arrangement of numbers.” There were a few voices supporting Pereira too. A fan said, “all these izzy fanboys ignoring the facts  there’s a reason this win meant so much to him and that’s exactly what it is lmfao”. Another fan pointed out,”1-1 in mma yet Izzy is running from the rematch, and wants nothing to do with it.

Alex Pereira Vs Israel Adesanya may remain an undecided rivalry

Immediately after UFC 287, talks about a rematch were in the air. Israel Adesanya stopped all allegations when he said that it settled the score for him and that he was not looking to give Pereira a Trilogy fight. UFC president Dana White too hinted that Pereira may move to the 205lbs division and the chances of a trilogy fight were bleak.
