UFC star Conor McGregor rose to stardom like no other. His presence in MMA brought a lot of attention to the sport. Coming from a humble background, he is the reason several fans started following the sport. However, the journey wasn’t easy.

Many know that the fighter used to work as a plumber. His transition from an apprentice plumber to a UFC fighter was not an easy one. In an old video, the Irish athlete could be heard talking about his dedication to the sport and compared himself to Vincent Van Gogh. His lines were thoroughly poetic and touched the heart of many.

McGregor said, “I’ve lost my mind doing this game. Like Vincent Van Gogh. He dedicated his life to his art and lost his mind in the process. That’s happened to me. But f**k it. When that gold belt is around my waist, when my mother has a big mansion, when my girlfriend has a different car for everyday of the week, my kid’s kids have anything they ever want; then it will pay. Then I’m happy, I lost my mind.”

Later on, during the UFC 257 press conference in 2021, a reporter even read out this quote for McGregor and asked his thoughts. This is because the fighter had come a long way since then. ‘The Notorious’ looked emotional but also proud at the same time. After all, he achieved his goal.

What’s next for Conor McGregor?

At UFC 257, he fought Dustin Poirier and unfortunately lost. At UFC 264, he faced Poirier once again. However, this McGregor broke his leg during the fight.

He went under surgery. Thus, it has been a while since fans have seen him compete in the ring. However, Conor McGregor is ready to come back and once again claim the title.
