A showboater and a fighter of undeniable clout, Israel Adesanya has dominated the Middleweight division. With a single loss to his name at 185 pounds, it is safe to say that there is no better Middleweight fighter in the UFC more deserving of the title.
After conquering the Middleweight division, ‘The Last Stylebender’ decided to move up a weight class and to make things more challenging for himself. A complete fighter well-equipped with skills both inside the ring and outside, Adesanya is the perfect champion material who can fill seats. However, for his next match, he has called out a fighter from the middleweight division itself.

An interview with FREESTYLEBENDER gave us insights into what the current Middleweight champion plans on doing. When the interviewer pointed out that the fighter had cleared out his division twice, Adesanya seemed perplexed, but caught on quickly, agreeing with the interviewer. “Yeah, alright, okay no, third – I’ve done it twice” agreed the Middleweight nightmare as he recollected.
On being asked about his plans about fighting in the promotion and which weight class he plans on cleaning house in next, the Middleweight champion said, “I think I just beat everyone in my weight class and there are some guys that are coming up that are really good they are lower rank but they’re really good. I see them, so yeah! I like those challenges“.
Fellow Middleweight fighter Robert Whittaker has a few things to say as well. Hailing from New Zealand as well, Whittaker seems convinced that Adesanya doesn’t want a match with him because he thinks Whittaker is a threat to his title reign. Adesanya has made it abundantly clear that he is looking to take on new fighters in the division and called out South African Middleweight Dricus Du Plessis.

Israel Adesanya made his way through the entire Middleweight division without a single loss to his name. However, his win streak was cut short when Brazilian kickboxer Alex Pereira handed him his first loss at UFC 281. However, it was no long before the Nigerian got his shot at redemption at UFC 287. Hungry for payback, Israel Adesanya won back his Middleweight championship title from the Brazilian by KO/TKO, once again reinstating himself as the Middleweight champion.
In between UFC 281 and UFC 287, Israel Adesanya made a jump to the Light Heavyweight division. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to dominate the division as before. He suffered a loss to Jan Blachowicz in the first match at 205 pounds. It was a Light Heavyweight title match, but Blachowicz proved too much for the fresh entrant. The Polish bulldozer was awarded the match via decision.
