Francis Ngannou’s manager, Marquel Martin, recently claimed that the UFC stalled Ngannou. While talking to ‘The MMA Hour’, Martin revealed that Ngannou wanted to fight often. However, the UFC president made him wait for a long time.
At the moment, the retired UFC star Chael Sonnen spoke in support of the UFC boss in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel. He said, “If you’re Dana and you’re dealing with Francis specifically, there is a responsibility and this is the part that gets missed so often. You cannot take somebody and just put them in there with Francis… Francis will take the number-one contender and he will send that guy to the emergency room. You gotta put him in there with champions. You gotta put him in there with the absolute best you have.“
He further added, “I just bring that to you because Marquel’s point is not factually incorrect. It’s not the term stalled out is meant to be derogative. I wish that he would have left stalled out, but as far as Francis saying ‘Hey I want to get in there, go ahead and put me in there’. It’s not that easy. You have to find a willing opponent.” Sonnen tried to prove that Dana White had valid reasons for keeping Ngannou away from the octagon for a long time. However, White had a different stance on Ngannou’s inactivity.
The UFC boss claimed that Francis Ngannou ran away from risks
After the Cameroonian-French fighter’s PFL deal, the UFC boss came into the limelight to talk about the same. While White was in a press conference, he said that the Ngannou PFL deal did not make any sense.
He further added that ‘Ngannou’ was running away from the current UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones. According to him, ‘The Predator’ didn’t want to take any risks by fighting ‘Bones’. Instead, he chose to leave the UFC for another MMA promotion.
