Jared Cannonier expressed his desire to fight for the middleweight gold. However, he believes he still needs to improve himself before fighting the middleweight champion Isreal Adesanya.
‘The Killa Gorilla’ secured a victory against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs Gastelum. After bouncing back into the win column, Cannonier claims he is ready for the title fight but has some work to do before facing the champion.
In the post fight interview, Cannonier said, “I’m going to have to be a super smart fighter against him. He is super long and again, you know I still have a lot of work to do. I still got miles to go as far as getting better as a fighter.”

“I’m not saying that I’m not ready for him because I can beat anybody. You know all those I put my hands on all those I get caged with. Just give me a shot. So, in the meantime I’m going to be getting better and better. And by the time I meet him, hopefully I’m gonna be so good it’s gonna be like a Super Saiyan versus a human or something like that.”
This win over Gastelum has cemented Cannonier’s position in the middleweight gold race. ‘The Killa Gorilla’ is currently #3 in the middleweight roster and is aiming for the title now.
