The fight was also rumored to take place during international fight week this year. However, no confirmation has been given by the fighters or the UFC.
A former heavyweight champion shared his opinion on his latest podcast. The former rival of the two blames Miocic to be the factor that is jeopardizing the fight this time.
Daniel Cormier discloses a rumor in Jon Jones versus Stipe Miocic fight

‘DC’ has shared his opinion about the heavyweight championship fight being in jeopardy. Daniel Cormier disclosed a rumor that he came across on his latest podcast on YouTube.
The former UFC double champion said, “And I heard just through the rumor mill and you could take it as such just a rumor, I don’t know. Was that Stipe was pricing himself out of the fight.” Furthermore, he also clarified his bitter rival Jones’ rumors.
Cormier said, “Someone told me that for as long as we have been hearing Jones’ rumors Jones has always been willing to sign those bout agreements. So when they said it was going to be September, they said Jones was ready. When it was going to be October, they said Jones was ready. December, Jones is ready. I heard that it’s always been an issue on the Miocic side in terms of the financial side of the equation in order what he’s going to get paid to go into the fight with Jones.”

The former UFC double champion cited Miocic’s age to be a factor for his bigger “final payday” ask. The UFC commentator also mentioned that the fight against ‘Bones’ will be very difficult for the former champion.
‘DC’ added, “Stipe is about to be 41 years old, so this may be, if he can’t get the job done his final payday of that sort and I can see why he’s trying to ensure that he is getting what he feels is his fair value. Especially going into a very difficult fight for him.” However, Miocic is in a different take regarding the rumors.

Additionally, Cormier also voiced his displeasure as he thought the fight was all but confirmed.
