The world of mixed martial arts went into a frenzy after the press conference for Conor McGregor versus Michael Chandler was canceled. McGregor was supposed to make a comeback against Chandler, following a three-year-long hiatus. While the fight fans were pretty excited for the Irishman’s return, McGregor announced that his injury forced him to pull out of the fight. Since he didn’t specify anything about his injury, not everyone in the world of combat sports believed what he said. Nevertheless, McGregor found a supporter in Dana White.

Recently, the same doubt was put forth in front of White, and the UFC CEO did his best to choke out all the doubts. He claimed that the former UFC double champion would never try, and fake an injury, especially for a higher payout. But let’s see what the UFC head honcho said in detail.

Recently, the UFC CEO appeared in an interview with Jim Rome on ‘The Jim Rome Show’. Therein, the host of the show questioned White about his thoughts on canceling the fight between McGregor and Chandler, after McGregor claimed that it would be the greatest comeback in the history of sports. White revealed that it was a common occurrence in the business.

Injuries can put any fight in jeopardy and with star fighters like McGregor and Jon Jones, the damage is a bit more. These fighters have enormous fanbase. But when the fighters face an injury, the excitement dies down. Regardless of the fighter involved, White claimed that he has to put forth a match-up every Saturday. Despite the hype around the fights, the UFC CEO wasn’t very optimistic. He said, ‘I gotta put on fights every Saturday. When those type of guys show up, it’s fun. But I run the business, man.”

Rome pointed out at the conspiracy theories that claimed that the Irishman faked an injury to renegotiate the contracts. But White wasn’t ready to hear any of it. He said, “I’ve said it many times before, and I’ll say it again. Conor McGregor has never done that. Conor McGregor never leaves up to a fight and tries to renegotiate the contract or get more money, He has never done anything even remotely close to that. He is as solid as solid can be, when it comes to being a business partner. Conor McGregor is hurt right now. It’s absolutely real. Yeah. No, he has never done anything like that.“
