Kamaru Usman will be taking on Colby Covington at UFC 268 in their much-anticipated rematch. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ will look to defend his belt for the 5th time when he faces ‘Chaos.’ Usman has earlier faced Covington back in 2019 at the UFC 245 event. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ had defeated Covington with a 5th round TKO in that fight.

Usman made his professional MMA debut back in November 2012 and has since then had a great MMA career. The fighter has lost just once in his entire MMA career and currently has a record of (19-1). Usman’s last and only MMA loss came back in 2013 and he has since won 18 fights across 8 years.

Because of Usman’s incredible MMA record, many people consider him to be the welterweight GOAT. Recently, another legendary UFC and MMA fighter, Khabib Nurmagomedov, was asked about Usman’s GOAT status. ‘The Eagle’ was asked whether they should declare Usman to be the welterweight GOAT if he defeats Covington this November.

To this Nurmagomedov replied, “Ater this one, well, it’d be tough. With this win only it would be difficult to call him that. But if he goes a bit further, defends the belt like three times, you can call him that.”

Many people consider Nurmagomedov to be the greatest of all time. Therefore, if Nurmagomedov thinks Usman should be called the GOAT after a few more victories, that should definitely mean a lot.

Kamaru Usman has achieved tremendous success in the welterweight division and is inarguably amongst the greatest welterweight fighters of all time. However, many believe the title for the greatest welterweight fighter in history belongs to Georges St-Pierre.

‘GSP’ had an incredible run in the UFC and achieved tremendous success in the promotion. The fighter defended his title a mammoth 9 times and, at one point, even won the UFC middleweight title. Therefore, many consider that ‘Rush’ is not just the greatest welterweight but the greatest MMA fighter period.
