Nothing is more painful than losing a loved one. Unfortunately, 31-year-old Middleweight UFC star  Marvin Vettori had to face such a devastating loss recently. His brother, who was just 30 years old, tragically passed away recently. Patrick Vettori was taken away too quickly because of a fire in his hometown, Mezzocorona.

Vettori posted a carousel of pictures from the time they were young and wrote a heartfelt note for his dear brother. He wrote it in Italian, and the translated version reads: “You were and always will be number 1 my little brother! You left a void that cannot be filled, I will love you until my last breath. You were the smartest and smartest of the 2, you were creating a wonderful future for yourself, and I can’t get over it. It is said that Jesus calls back the most beautiful souls prematurely to have them with him in heaven, and then I hope that you are there with him looking and watching over us with that goodness that has always set you apart. I love yo,u my brother, and even though it won’t be easy to continue life without you, it gives me heart to know that one day l’ll be buried next to you. Ti amo.”

As per Sherdog and X user @DovySimuMMA, Patrick passed away in a house fire. The loss has left the entire family shattered. As per The Sun, an Italian media TgCom24, conveyed that the police and firefighters did arrive after they were alerted, but Patrick passed due to smoke inhalation. Marvin Vettori’s brother was also a brilliant individual and was not only a professional cyclist but was also running for the Municipal Elections in his hometown. The 30-year-old’s last Instagram post was about this news, and Marvin commented on the same, saying, “Great, Patrick! Proud of you!”

As soon as the news of Vettori’s brother’s demise came out, MMA fans jumped on social media to send their condolences to the whole family, especially to Vettori. Fans on Reddit wrote comments like, “Marvin has been one of my favorites since he first started, and I’ve loved every second I’ve had to watch him fight. This is genuinely awful, and I can’t imagine what he and his family are going through. A terrible thing to happen to anyone, especially a young man like this.”  The 19-8-1 Middleweight star is going through a slump in his UFC record with two back-to-back losses to Jared Cannonier and Roman Dolidze, but this is nothing compared to the loss he is going through in his life right now.  On that note, let’s look at his journey to the UFC and the family that helped him get here.

Marvin Vettori’s family and future plans with combat sports

“My father told me, ‘Put it all in, try to make it, and you know you always have your family here,’” ‘The Italian Dream’ had told UFC in an interview back in 2021. “I was just a kid,” he had reminisced, “I f***ing left and I made it happen because my drive was so high.”

The Italian UFC star is the eldest of three in his family. However, information on his parents, Vicente and Rafaele Vettori, is deficient on the internet. The #10 was always into MMA but did it for fun until he saw a video of Fedor Emelianenko fighting in PRIDE, and that was the start of his obsession with combat sports as per UFC.

He has always spoken about the unwavering support of his family and siblings through his journey in MMA. He decided to leave Italy and pursue MMA in Rome, which was a 6-hour drive away from Mezzocorona.H e put in the grind and got to work, and by the time his graduation came by, he was put in touch with the London Shootfighters team by his acquaintance. He said to UFC, “My father was behind me. My mother, too, but in a way, she was sure I’d be back. I didn’t want to call my parents.” He was only 18 at the time he left Italy. “I said, ‘I can’t show them my weaknesses.’ I was wrong, because they always supported me.”

He fulfilled his dream with his family’s support and became a UFC star. Meanwhile, right now, he is going through two back-to-back UFC losses and is dejected. His post on Instagram after his loss to Dolidze read, ““F*ck. I don’t even know what to say. Thank you to [American Top Team]. The best in the world … thank you, UFC. What the f*ck can I say? I don’t know. That’s it.” But as per his recent Instagram post, he was seen training and captioned the post with “staying ready.” Hopefully, this means he plans on another showdown, but right now, he needs all the support he can get from family, friends, and MMA fans after this devastating loss.
