Tony Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov is hands down the most cursed fight in UFC history. With Ferguson losing back-to-back fights and Nurmagomedov retiring, fans have left hope that a fight between the two could ever take place. However, Ferguson is still certain that he will meet the UFC lightweight champion inside the Octagon.
Coming off a one-sided defeat at the hands of Charles Oliveira last weekend, Ferguson has been highly active on social media for the last few hours. He has dissected his own defeat. On top of it, he vowed to come back stronger than ever from the defeat.
Regardless of what Ferguson says, the odds of a fight between him and ‘The Eagle’ are almost negligible. The two are at very different stages of their career. Nevertheless, Ferguson believes that Khabib Nurmagomedov is a man of his words and this is what will lead to a fight between the two.

Khabib Nurmagomedov had predicted that Tony Ferguson will never be the same after Justin Gaethje loss
Tony Ferguson suffered a devastating loss at the hands of Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 in May earlier this earlier. The loss snapped his twelve fight winning streak in the lightweight division. It also provided Gaethje the chance to fight for the undisputed title against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 254.
During the run-up to the fight with Gaethje, Nurmagomedov was certain that the best days of Ferguson were behind him. The Russian champ argued that after taking the damage which Gaethje landed on him, he would never be the same. He even labeled the former interim champ as ‘stupid’ for calling him out.

The rise of both Ferguson and Nurmagomedov took place almost simultaneously in the UFC. The two were always on a collision course with the UFC booking a fight between them for five times. However, everything ranging from injuries, weight management issues, a misplaced cable wire, and a global pandemic never allowed the fight to happen.

Nurmagomedov is now retired, and it is possible that he will never return to the UFC. Even if he returns, it is highly likely that he fights a big opponent such as Conor McGregor or Georges St-Pierre as opposed to Ferguson.
