Jon Jones is indeed considered an irresistible force in the UFC. His return inside the octagon at UFC 285 was a perfect example of a dream result for all ‘Bones’ fans. Not only did he defeat heavyweight bigwig Ciryl Gane, but he was able to achieve glory by eventually putting the heavyweight strap on his shoulders. Well, it looks like that defeat in the headliner still haunts the Frenchman.

Recently, Gane had an interview with the UFC. Considering his fight against Sergey Spivak in the city of Paris next week, Gane had a lot to discuss. But somehow, the conversation transitioned towards Jon Jones, as it was seemingly enough for the 33-year-old heavyweight to shed light on his defeat against the heavyweight champion.

Yet another YouTube interview featured Gane expressing his sorrows concerning the quick defeat he witnessed at the hands of Jones. While speaking with UFC’s John Gooden, the Frenchman expressed how it felt when he experienced disappointment as an outcome at UFC 285. He said, “I was really happy to be here to fight, uh, and boom!” Preeminence. He thought for a while and continued,  “It was a bad moment, it was a really bad moment. At this moment when he did it, I remember I stayed in the cage like, oh! It’s a nightmare, no it is not the reality.”

Apparently, ‘Bon Gamin’ showcased a series of sentences that truly justified his sorrow. He weighed in on the degree of shockwaves he experienced back there. However, it would be better if he did not let that defeat hinder his psychology since he has to be focused on his forthcoming bout in Paris. Well in the past, Gane shared his comments concerning the history with Jones. But it will be intriguing to know what actually went on during that nightmare.

A brief history of the UFC 285 headliner

The UFC 285 headliner was a rather crucial setup for both fighters. Jones, who achieved everything, had his eyes set on being the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Gane, on the other hand, had to prove a lot since he had lost his last title opportunity against Francis ‘The Predator Ngannou. As he mentioned in the interview, he was happy to fight Jones, but little did he know that a guillotine choke would destroy all his aspirations concerning the heavyweight title.

No one expected Jones to be that dominant. He proved why he was one of the top players in the game as he could take Gane down on the first try. The bout, however, lasted for two minutes since Jones was able to tap Gane out and become the brand-new enforcer of the heavyweight division.
