‘Ice Cream Kron’ didn’t look like he learned much during his hiatus from fighting, as he displayed a very lackluster performance at UFC 288. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt didn’t look comfortable fighting on his feet in the three-round fight against Charles Jourdain. Moreover, Kron Gracie attempted to draw Jourdain into grappling exchanges several times, but those moments only lasted for a few seconds.

The fight ultimately ended with Kron Gracie losing the fight to Jourdain via a unanimous decision. It was his second consecutive loss in the UFC after losing to Cub Swanson back in 2019. When moments spent on the ground did not produce any positive results, Gracie ended up taking a lot of punishment on the feet over three rounds.

Michael Bisping shares his thoughts on Gracie’s comeback fight

‘The Count’ recently posted a video on YouTube reviewing what went down at UFC 288. While addressing Kron Gracie’s fight, he mentioned how much respect he had for his family’s Jiu-Jitsu heritage. But Kron Gracie did not impress Michael Bisping with his performance. The UFC Hall of Famer deemed his performance as a relic of the past. Bisping said, “That fight was kind of a relic performance. It was a throwback. It looked like this was 1993.”

Michael Bisping stressed the importance of being an all-rounder when engaging in an MMA fight. There are no specialist fighters anymore. “You have to be well-rounded. We’re not specialists anymore. You can be a specialist, but you’re going to have other skills to back it up,” said ‘The Count’.

He lauded Charles Jourdain for having a very disciplined game plan during the fight. Bisping added, “Kron Gracie kept walking forward. He pulled guard a couple of times [and] Jourdain did the right thing. Jourdain is a black belt himself. He knows how to defend these things. This isn’t 1993.”
