Halle Berry has been making the news a lot recently. The Hollywood star was seen at UFC 268, during the ceremonial weigh-in face-off. And also during the event. She oversaw the face-off between Rose Namajunas and Zhang Weili. And also was the one to put the title around Namajunas, after she won the fight.

Berry was at the event to promote her latest movie, Bruised. It is a movie about an MMA fighter trying to make her come back. The movie also stars UFC flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko. For the move, Berry had to get in great shape and look like a fighter, for which she had to train a lot.

When asked about what was it like to prepare for a role like this and learn actual MMA disciplines, she said, “It is hands down the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my professional career. I think it’s second only to childbirth. I had to push myself further than I’d ever pushed myself. All those disciplines are at play so I had to learn bits of all of it.”

“You can’t just all of a sudden look like you’re a real fighter,” Berry said. “You really have to take the time and just put in the work and let your body sort of transform to look that way. I had to get some of these techniques in my body so that when shoot day came, I wasn’t still struggling with it. I had these things solidly in my body.”

This movie will mark the UFC debut of Shevchenko, and according to her, it was a great opportunity for her career.

Valentina Shevchenko broke Halle Berry’s ribs

Working in a movie based on a combat sport sounds fun, but it can be dangerous on the sets. Especially when it is with a professional fighter. Halle Berry plays an MMA fighter in her next movie and brought in Valentina Shevchenko in the movie as well.

Bullet‘ is one of the most dangerous fighters in the world and at first, while filming the scenes, she wasn’t going too hard. However, according to Berry, when asked to give it her all, Shevchenko, by mistake, hurt the star.

Berry said, “At first, she wasn’t connecting with her kicks and finally I said, you got to do it. I have to feel it. I’ve never done this. That’s why you’re here. Give it to me, and so she gave it to me. She broke two ribs.”

Shevchenko, making her Hollywood debut, talked about her experience and said that it was a great opportunity. According to her, this shows that martial arts is reaching new levels every day.
