What we’ve seen in sci-fi and superhero movies could be real: we could be living in a multiverse. This doubt could be solved thanks to the quantum computing chip presented by Google called Willow, a technology that opens the doors to much more powerful developments compared to those we know today. Amid its announcement, a statement emerged from Hartmut Neven, founder of Google Quantum AI, who assured that this processor could give a clue to the existence of parallel universes. Something that highly piqued the interest of Joe Rogan.

The executive of the $2.34 trillion company pointed out that the chip’s computing power lends credence to the idea that quantum computing occurs in many parallel universes, a notion aligned with the multiverse theory proposed by physicist David Deutsch in the 1980s. So when Joe Rogan sat down with Julian Lennon on JRE episode #2243, he shared his thoughts on this new chipset. He said, “It’s insane. Here’s where it gets really weird: the way it was explained to me is that quantum computers pull answers from different universes simultaneously. They don’t even completely understand how this is working, but the amount of computing power is incomprehensible.”

Well, Rogan didn’t just stop there. He also called Willow the biggest technological breakthrough in history. “When you look at the numbers, you could write them all out, but your brain isn’t capable of fully grasping what’s going on. It’s probably the biggest technological breakthrough in human history by a long stretch. And it’s all happening without most people even being aware of what the implications are.” Even Julian Lennon chimed in as he tried to find a definition for how the chipset actually works. “I’m trying to find it, but I think the understanding I got from it was it’s just too powerful to get from our universe alone. You’d have to have more than one.”

As per Google, Willow is so powerful that this new device completed in less than five minutes a problem that would take current supercomputers 10 septillion years. To put this in perspective, this figure exceeds the age of the universe, estimated at about 13.8 billion years. So, this is a major breakthrough in the $1.3 billion-worth global quantum computing market. So, what is the purpose of this device? Was it actually made as a gateway to a parallel universe? And could it help break the simulation that Joe Rogan believes we’re living in?

What are Willow’s real advances despite Joe Rogan’s multiverse desire?

Regardless of the controversy over parallel universes, Willow marks a milestone in quantum computing by addressing one of the field’s biggest technical challenges: error reduction. Quantum systems are particularly sensitive to external variations, making them challenging to predict. Google’s new semiconductor is a significant step toward more stable and viable quantum computers.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai stressed that this development is part of a broader plan to make quantum computing useful in the real world. In future applications, these systems could revolutionize areas such as drug design, the development of new energy sources, and battery optimization. However, Joe Rogan would surely want it to be a gateway to a parallel universe instead. Or at least, help in breaking the simulation that we are living in, as he revealed on the same JRE episode with Julian Lennon.

The JRE host said that there is a possibility that nothing that is being felt and seen by humans is real. Instead, we are living in a simulation like the movie, The Matrix. It isn’t just him; even Elon Musk is a firm believer in the theory, as he revealed, “When it’s explained to you by brilliant people, it becomes hard to ignore the possibility that maybe they’re correct. For instance, Elon Musk mentioned that the odds of us not being in a simulation are in the billions.”

Well, it looks like Google’s Willow might have a new major task in hand of breaking the matrix. But what do you think? Do you believe in these theories? Let us know in the comments.
