Henry Cejudo will be making his much-awaited return to the Octagon after almost three years of announcing his initial retirement. He is set to face the Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling for the title at UFC 288. However, ‘Triple C’ has revealed his wish to move up to the Featherweight division and fight Alexander Volkanovski after he’s done with ‘Funkmaster’.

It will certainly be one of the biggest fights this year, as both fighters have similar fighting styles, with backgrounds in wrestling.

‘Triple C’ recently made an appearance in an interview with ESPN and mentioned that he wants to be an active champion. Moreover, he opened up about his wish to move to the Featherweight division and fight the champion, Alexander Volkanovski. Cejudo said, “I am planning on becoming an active champion and it doesn’t stop there.” He added, “My overall goal is Alexander Volkanovski.”
‘Triple C’ is not underestimating Aljamain Sterling, but his primary goal is not just winning the Bantamweight title. Cejudo also wants to conquer yet another division. He said, “Obviously I cannot overlook Aljamain Sterling. But my overall goal is to go up to 145 pounds… to take him [Volkanovski] down under and become the C4, the first three-division champ in history.”
Aljamain Sterling doesn’t intimidate Henry Cejudo
The former double champion believes that ‘Funkmaster’ is a great fight for him. Henry Cejudo also claims that the current champion doesn’t make him nervous, even after Sterling sent him a warning. He said, “His [Aljamain Sterling] takedowns don’t intimidate me. His entries don’t intimate me [and] his striking doesn’t intimidate me.”

Cejudo claims that the only special thing about Aljamain Sterling is that he is not afraid of taking risks. “If there’s anything that Aljamain does, he just takes chances. He is a risk taker,” said the former double champion. He added, “He will throw a crazy knee [and] he’ll go for a takedown from a mile away.”
For an Olympic gold medalist, Henry Cejudo could surely put up a great fight against Alexander Volkanovski if he aims to hunt for a third-division title. However, he has to go through Sterling first. What do you think?
