The UFC commentator Joe Rogan does not feel that the MMA rules completely make sense. He states that it’s highly favorable for grapplers. In his show and through his commentary, he has surprised every single UFC fan with his technical knowledge about MMA. In the recent episode of JRE, Rogan talked to the first and only BMF of the UFC, and that’s none other than Jorge Masvidal.
‘Gamebred’ opened up about how he feels that the rules of MMA are quite biased towards wrestlers. He pointed out how fighting against each other should be considered “fighting” in its true essence. To make his point clear, he explained how a fighter cannot knee another fighter in the face, no matter how difficult the position he or she is in. According to the MMA rule, a fighter cannot punch in the back of the head; this triggers Masvidal. He finds it difficult to process how most of the rules give an advantage to a grappler. The brutally honest Joe Rogan also agreed with the 38-year-old’s statements.

As a reply to the BMF champion, Rogan said, “I agree with that 100%.” Masvidal once again stated, “There’s a lot of things that it kind of leans towards wrestling.” Talking further on the topic the UFC commentator said, The downed opponent thing where you can touch one hand down.

He added, “I know they’ve changed that in some places, but there’re other places is still consider one hand down to punch. It’s crazy. It doesn’t make any sense, and it does favor the grappler. It’s also unrealistic.” This indirectly means that the fighters like Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev have many advantages compared to non-wrestling MMA fighters.

Rogan emphasized how the rules were flawed and need to be rechecked. He continued, “like if the guy is on the ground, like, I think you should be able to knee him in the head. I mean, you see it in one FC. You see in a lot of other places. That’s a legitimate position and don’t be in that position then because it’s the way to the fights going to get stopped.” The episode made it clear that both Rogan and Masvidal are unhappy with the current MMA rules. Furthermore, the UFC commentator hoped to see some changes in the MMA rules, and ‘Gamebred,” being a fighter, is looking forward to the same.
