UFC president Dana White took to his social media to share a piece of sad news with the MMA community. The 53-year-old paid condolences to 21-year-old Shalie Lipp, who recently passed away in a car accident. Lipp was an amateur MMA fighter who, like many others, dreamed of fighting in the UFC one day.

White, who came to know of the news from his colleagues in the UFC, made the touching gesture to acknowledge it via his Instagram. His reason for giving Lipp a special message is equally heartbreaking.

In the Instagram post mourning Lipp, White wrote, “I KNOW YOUR NAME……. RIP.” In the comments, the UFC president continued, “She is a 21 year old amateur MMA fighter who just passed away in a car accident. She was supposed to fight May 20th and just got home from training in Thailand.”

He further wrote, “Her mother found her journal and i guess at the end of every entry she would write “Dana White will know my name.” Lauren Murphy called and told Mick Maynard the story and it broke my heart.. My condolences to her family and friends.”

Reports state that Lipp was in a car with another person, with her coach driving. They crashed into another car on Interstate 94 in Minnesota. Lipp was reportedly not wearing her seatbelt, which resulted in her tragic end.

The 21-year-old had recently returned from Thailand after training. She was set to fight on May 20, at No Mercy 11.
