Israel Adesanya is currently one of the best fighters in the UFC. The middleweight champion is undefeated in the middleweight division and has defended his UFC title 3 times. Adesanya’s only MMA loss came when he faced Jan Blachowicz in a light heavyweight fight.
‘The Last Stylebender’ has been a dominating champion and therefore is currently No.3 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings. Adesanya has defeated the likes of Anderson Silva, Robert Whittaker, and Marvin Vettori and therefore many consider there is no one currently at 185lbs who can challenge Adesanya.
Recently MMA legend Anderson Silva was talking about ‘The Last Stylebender’. During a recent interview with Submission Radio, they asked the fighter whether he thinks anyone can defeat Adesanya at middleweight.

He said, “Let me tell you something very important. Isreal is the big champion. Israel has a lot of experience in kickboxing and I don’t see anybody can win and challenge Israel in your weight class. Probably in a different weight class, but in 185 I don’t think so.”

Silva was himself the UFC middleweight champion and holds the record for the longest title reign in UFC history. ‘The Spider’ defended his title 1o time and was unbeatable between 2006 and 2012. Therefore, someone like Silva saying that he believes Adesanya will be very tough to defeat at 185 should mean a lot to the fighter.
Anderson Silva talks about Robert Whittaker vs Israel Adesanya
There is one fighter that many fans believe can defeat Israel Adesanya at middleweight and that is Robert Whittaker. While Whittaker lost to Adesanya via 2nd round TKO in their 1st fight, many still believe ‘The Reaper’ can push Adesanya.
Therefore, even though a fight between Adesanya and Whitaker is not expected to take place until 2022. They asked Silva about his views on the same and whether Whittaker can defeat ‘The Last Stylebender’.
Silva said, “Wow, you know it’s a different game. But I think Israel is at the top of the game right now. It’s hard to talk about, you know because Israel has proved to anybody why he is the champion in this weight class. It’s very hard to stay in this weight class, fighting at a good level, you know. I know because I was there for 10 years. But it’s tough, it’s very tough.”
