Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk‘s competition just got a lot more heated. After a long wait, Meta has finally launched ‘Threads’, its competitor to Twitter. The 39-year-old announced his plans via his own Threads account. Further, he returned to Twitter after eleven years to post a meme aimed at Musk. Now, he has a huge MMA star in the ranks of the Threads community. Also, the UFC fighter’s first post is so iconic it is sending shocks across the combat sports community.

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya recently announced on Twitter that he has joined Threads. Adesanya has a massive fan following and will probably carry some of those numbers to Meta’s new venture. The 33-year-old also has an active social media presence, so fans can expect more Threads posts from him. What was more surprising than his joining the app was who featured alongside him in the post.

In a recent tweet, Israel Adesanya announced to his fans his entry into the Threads community. His first post was a video with UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones. The pair shook hands in the wholesome exchange and Adesanya observed how he keeps running into rivals. His meeting with Alex Pereira at an airport had gone viral a few weeks ago.

In the tweet, ‘Stylebender’ wrote, “My first Thread… Life is one big cartoon!!” In the screenshot, fans can see Jones smiling, with the caption, “My first thread…HISTORY!!”

The layout of the app looks similar to Instagram with the champion’s name on the profile with his moniker beneath it. The picture also shows that Adesanya had a follower count of 57.4K.

Jones and Adesanya have gone at each other in the past. This post could also be an indication that the pair may have squashed any beef they had.

Meanwhile, the irony of the situation might not be entertaining for Elon Musk. Following Zuckerberg’s viral tweet from earlier, Adesanya is also using the platform to advertise its rival, Threads. With such high-profile figures going to Threads, it could be hard for Musk to see a silver lining in all this.
