Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is taking a break from fighting after his upset loss to Sean Strickland at UFC 293. Meanwhile, he’s been busy with his own life and recently added a new tattoo to his collection. Adesanya inked a tattoo of a famous Disney character and shared images of it on social media.
‘The Last Stylebender’ is not a stranger to tattoos. He has a wide range of of inked to his body, which appears to have a lot of meaning to him. However, his recent tattoo might be an important one as he shared a message along with it to his fans. Let’s take a look at it.
Israel Adesanya inks a new tattoo

‘The Last Stylebender’ showcased his love for tattoos and animated characters in an Instagram story he shared recently. He inked the new tattoo on the inside of his left arm of the famous Disney character, Stitch. The Disney character in question first appeared in 2002, in a feature film named ‘Lilo & Stitch’. Now the movie series has become an entire franchise. Israel Adesanya seemed to be in love with the character, as he also shared an important message along with it.
Adesanya used a Hawaiian term that denoted ‘family’. He said, “Ohana means family.” It is apparent that family means a lot to the former champion. Moreover, he also clarified that the ‘Stitch’ character was not like a real animal that most people would think. Adesanya added, “It’s not a koala.” While he’s enjoying his time off, the Nigerian-born Kiwi fighter also opened up on when he might return to fight again.
‘Izzy’ planning a return in 2027
For a while now, fans weren’t sure exactly when Israel Adesanya would make his UFC return. He had been one of the most active champions recently and seems like he deserves a break. However, a recent interview with Adesanya at the Francis Ngannou vs Tyson Fury fight has fans worried that they might not get to witness the 2-time middleweight champion for a while.

Adesanya mentioned that he’s not planning to fight until 2027. He said, “2027 [I’ll] look for the return. I’ll see you.” It is still not sure how serious the former champion was about returning at the date he prescribed. Nevertheless, he will be in his late 30s if 2027 is the year he returns to fight again.

Israel Adesanya could have joked about returning after almost four years. However, we have seen many fighters take long breaks from fighting. Most recently, Jon Jones returned to action after a three-year hiatus. Hence, there is no reason to believe that Adesanya won’t do the same. We will have to wait and see how things unfold in the future.
