Israel Adesanya has revealed his own nightmare P. Diddy story. But thankfully it isn’t real. The former UFC middleweight champion joined Joe Rogan on the latter’s podcast where naturally they spoke about one of the biggest, most salacious stories in the country. And the Kiwi-Nigerian revealed that he had in fact been invited for an interview with the controversial hip-hop mogul after his UFC 287 victory over Alex Pereira in early 2023.
Given the avalanche of lawsuits and charges P. Diddy is facing and the harrowing testimonies of his alleged victims, ‘Izzy’ couldn’t help but wonder if he would have been one of the rapper’s numerous alleged victims but by the grace of god, who apparently ensured the interview didn’t happen in the first place.
“I tell you a secret. It’s just us two, right? After I knocked out Pereira in Miami, we went to Tootsies the next night and they were like ‘Yo P. Diddy was in here watching your fight last night.’ I was like ‘Wait, word, crazy!’ And I went to check my DMs and I saw ‘Oh s**t,’ he hit me up and he was talking in about two months they wanted to do an interview or whatever. And I said ‘Here’s my manager’s number. Cool.’ Nothing ever came of it but again that’s why I said God be protecting me,” Adesanya said.

Joe Rogan, of course, was totally rapt and quickly reminded the former UFC champ of the many odd findings in the music mogul’s properties, over which the two had a good laugh. However, the mood soon turned markedly conspiratorial and finally spiritual as ‘Izzy’ confirmed one of the allegations against Alex Pereira.

Alex Pereira’s MMA career has been, well, miraculous. In only seven fights at the UFC, the native Brazilian became not only a global superstar but also a two-division champion. So meteoric has been his rise and so shocking are some of his performances that Jiri Prochazka, prior to their UFC 303 rematch, had accused Pereira of using ‘spirits’ and weaponizing shamanic rituals to win his fights. Of course, these charges were met with widespread ridicule from fans. But Israel Adesanya, who has fought ‘Poatan’ four times already, thinks there is much truth to Prochazka’s accusations.

“You know what Jiri said about the whole juju thing? That’s real. That’s real… I was beating his ass, had him hurt at the end of the first round, all that s**t. Took him down, and then he gets me in the last round. It’s his spirit, it’s whatever his ancestors or his people that are praying for him,” Adesanya told Rogan.
Adesanya, of course, is a big believer in the power of manifestation and positive thinking. In addition, the Yoruba also seems to firmly believe in the powers of magic and supernatural spiritual power, as he told Rogan that he had his own “prayer warriors” as well. Namely, his “mum and dad,” who fasted for him and “have people in the spirit realm praying for me.” What are your thoughts on Adesanya’s take on Pereira’s ‘spiritual warfare?’
