Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones once hovered on the edge of a mega-fight. Back then, their rivalry was all venom and viral tweets. Jones, the dominant light heavyweight champion at the time, poked at the rising middleweight with threats of “exposure” and harsh words about sipping too much of his own “Kool-Aid.” But now? That bad blood has cooled. And what’s bubbling up instead might be something no one saw coming: brotherhood, or better yet, mentorship.
After years of friction, “The Last Stylebender” is looking at “Bones” not as a rival, but as a resource. Following a brutal wake-up call recently with David Goggins, where Adesanya pushed himself to the point of puking, he seems more focused than ever on sharpening his tools. And in this next phase of growth, Adesanya has someone in mind to join him in camp, Jon Jones!

Israel Adesanya wants to “pick” Jon Jones’s brain after pushing himself to the limit with David Goggins
Speaking on the Pound 4 Pound Podcast with fellow former champs Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo, Adesanya opened the door wide for a future collab. “Eventually, you and Jon Jones kinda patched things up,” Cejudo teased as he inquired, “You ever thought about maybe shooting out to Albuquerque?”
Without missing a beat, Adesanya replied, “Definitely. It’s on the list. It’s on the list.” There was no hesitation in his voice. Just intent. Cejudo, always quick to stir the pot, added with a grin, “Same size.” That opened the floodgates. “With Jon, bruh,” Adesanya said, pausing like he was picturing it. “I know I can learn a lot. Long guy, his frames. I’ve watched him since UFC 92. The way he moves… I can pick his brain on some stuff.” So what’s the hold up?
‘The Last Stylebender’ confessed, “So definitely it’ll happen, but, time.” But this isn’t a sudden pivot. It’s part of a deeper shift in Adesanya’s journey. After three tough losses, Sean Strickland, Dricus Du Plessis, and Nassourdine Imavov, the former champion, recently turned to retired Navy SEAL and motivation dynamo, David Goggins, to shock his system.

In a recent YouTube vlog, Adesanya took fans inside a training session with the former Navy SEAL. It wasn’t pretty. The camera caught him vomiting after pushing past his limits. But that was the point. Pain as purification. So, what would training with Jon Jones look like?
What’s your perspective on:
Can Adesanya's alliance with Jon Jones reignite his career, or is it just wishful thinking?
Have an interesting take?
Two lanky, creative strikers. Two of MMA’s most innovative minds exchanging tricks in the gym. A fusion of experience, creativity, and hard-earned wisdom. And after Goggins’ torturous boot camp, Jones’ strategic mind could be the perfect follow-up! And other than pushing himself to the limit in brutal workouts, ‘The Last Stylebender’ also revealed a unique process that he utilized ahead of his title clash with Alex Pereira to gain an edge. And the answer, just might surprise you!

‘The Last Stylebender’ reveals his secret weapon that helped him beat Alex Pereira
Israel Adesanya doesn’t just train his body. He trains his being. And sometimes, that means stepping into the shower with a purpose and a little help! During his conversation with Usman and Cejudo, he revealed, “The Pereira fight in Miami, I did three macro ‘shroom trips in the shower, where I was able to just f—- hone in.”
Sounds wild, right? But for Adesanya, it wasn’t some psychedelic joyride. It was a ritual. A plunge into the depths of consciousness. A mirror turned inward. He further confessed, “I don’t go too deep — it’s more I can feel myself, I can feel myself deeper. I don’t know if it’s your ancestors or whatever, but I could feel myself on a level I’ve never felt before.”

And that level was on display as he laid the ghosts of his past to rest with a thunderous knockout of ‘Poatan’ during their rematch at UFC 287. Since that moment of cosmic clarity in Miami, the waters have grown murkier. Three straight losses. Each one cutting a little deeper.
But if David Goggins dragged him through the fire, and Jon Jones might help rebuild the frame, maybe this time, the tables will turn! Do you think ‘The Last Stylebender’ will be able to bounce back from his skid? And will we see him training with Jon Jones in Albuquerque next? Let us know in the comments below!
