Now, the two-time UFC champion has made a massive announcement about New Zealand as he dropped an update about his next bout.
Israel Adesanya’s last bout was at UFC 287 against Alex Pereira. After a rivalry of seven years, Adesanya finally beat Pereira for the first time in his career at UFC 287 in Miami. ‘Stylebender’ has been unapologetically riding the high of the knockout win ever since.

Recently, he hosted a non-fight-related Q&A on his social media and answered many questions about various aspects of his life. One of them concerned New Zealand, and the middleweight star had a strong response to it.

One of the questions that Israel Adesanya got during the Q&A concerned his fighting future in New Zealand. One fan asked ‘Stylebender’ when he would headline an event in New Zealand. On his Instagram story, he champion had a strong unexpected response to that.
He responded, “still never fighting in NZ. My next fight will be in Sydney. Millions and millions and millions and millions of dollars the they can have…”
He seemed to be rubbing in the fact that Australia would be making millions of dollars off of him while New Zealand got nothing. Recently, he also fired shots at the NZ media for their treatment of him.

In an interview a few months ago, Israel Adesanya explained why his family moved to New Zealand when he was a kid. ‘Stylebender’s family moved to NZ when he was just 10 years old. The reason for it was education.

He said, “when I’m in New Zealand, sometimes I’ll be… talking to a cab driver and I find out that he was a medical doctor back in Sri Lanka or back in India and then moved over to NZ or the ‘western world’ for ‘better life’ and their qualifications aren’t recognized in the western world.”
He added that they decided to move over to New Zealand, a Western country, for a “better recognized tertiary education.”
