Three back-to-back losses, being 35 years old, and a shattered sense of self. These three things could very well be the end for any world-class fighter. But is it the case with Israel Adesanya? Apparently not! His coach at City Kickboxing, Eugene Bareman, claimed that ‘The Last Stylebender’ is taking a much-needed break outside of fighting and was confident the former two-time champion will be back one day. “Israel’s taking a break, mate,” Adesanya’s coach stated a few days ago, and now, the Nigerian-born star has opened up on his future as well.

For those who want to know if Izzy wants to come back or not, he does indeed. He’s not done yet and has some more fights left in him. Having established himself as a star and stacking up his resume, the 35-year-old is enjoying things outside of fighting at the moment. As per his coach, he’s in the United States, and the former 2-time middleweight confirmed that fact when he caught up with former champions Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo for a conversation on their podcast.

“There’s more to life than fighting. That’s one thing that I’ve always known, and I’ve always had in the back of my mind,” Adesanya stated on ‘Pound 4 Pound with Kamaru & Henry’. So, when will it all end? Israel Adesanya isn’t getting any younger. While he hasn’t given a specific timeline, he’s made it clear that he has no intention of fighting until his body gives out—unlike some others in the sport. According to ‘The Last Stylebender’, there are fighters who are “addicted” to the high they get walking out to the Octagon. But for Adesanya, it’s about knowing when to bow out gracefully.

“I don’t wanna be one of these guys that, when it’s all said and done, when I’m past my prime and I should be outta here, they’re like, ‘Oh, just one more. I need the hit,” Adesanya added. “Some people can’t get away from the spotlight. They get addicted to the shine.” Well, Adesanya isn’t wrong because we’ve had many fighters competing way past their prime and failing so many times that Dana White had to step in and ask them to retire. Legends like BJ Penn, Chuck Liddell, and, more recently, Tony Ferguson are prime examples of that claim.

Well, time away from the Octagon appears to have given Israel Adesanya plenty of time to look at the things in life that he’s got going. Moreover, ‘Izzy’ recently made amends with a fellow UFC fighter after he received an apology. Let’s take a look at that front.

He confessed to having a bit of hostility towards the 185lbs star. Henry Cejudo said, “I wanna say thanks, man. I f—in hated on you like you wouldn’t believe.” And guess what? It actually didn’t surprise Adesanya, as he replied, “I know.”

Thereafter, ‘Triple C’ would confess to being a fan of ‘The Last Stylebender’. Cejudo also lauded Israel Adesanya for being an exceptional fighter who achieved great things without the help of the one tool that nowadays most fighters believe is essential. Which is wrestling. “Haters are your biggest fans, dude. What you’ve been able to do not being a f—ing wrestler, to me that’s impressive,” the former double champion added.
