“There’s no such thing as bad publicity,” P.T. Barnum once famously said, and it seems the Paul brothers have taken this too seriously. Jake Paul and Logan Paul, earlier known as just YouTubers, are now key players in the combat sports world. Remember how the older brother had shifted his focus to WWE while ‘The Problem Child’ continued boxing older athletes like Nate Diaz and Mike Tyson? But is MMA next for them?

Well, we do not know that, but a blast from the past witnessed Logan Laul train with elite UFC stars, Israel Andesanya and Alexander Volkanovski. He had invited them to join him for a grappling session at his $4 million gym facility in Puerto Rico, which he co-owns. So a clip of Paul and Adesanya grappling together went viral in 2023, and it has now resurfaced.

Here’s the thing: ‘Izzy’ is known for his striking skills rather than his ground game and let us not forget the fact that UFC fans have barely seen him on the ground. On the other hand, Paul, who went to Westlake High School in Ohio, is trained in wrestling. So one would have thought he had the edge. But what if we told you he didn’t?

While Adesanya was on the ground with Paul hovering over him, it didn’t take the former UFC champ to put him in a triangle choke. The famous influencer couldn’t help but tap out.

Fans mock Logan Paul for getting submitted by Israel Adesanya!

Israel Adesanya, a former Glory kickboxing champion, had his first UFC fight in 2018. He quickly established himself as a dominant force, starting with a spectacular debut against Rob Wilkinson. That victory kicked off an impressive nine-win streak, four of which came by knockout. However, fans have rarely seen him display his ground game, and owing to this, Paul got mocked. A fan wrote, “Imagine getting tapped by a striker and thinking you can be in the UFC,” while another added, “He (Adesanya) has never done that to any opponent in his career, not even once.”

They aren’t wrong here. Adesanya has almost never takedown any of his opponents. It was only in UFC 281 that he had one takedown landed against Alex Pereira.

Last summer, Paul revealed his ambition to break into the UFC, hoping for a crossover fight in MMA. With the two promotions now under the TKO Group Holdings umbrella, the buzz for a potential crossover event intensified. However, after watching Paul struggle with grappling against a non-grappler like Adesanya, fans didn’t hold back. “And white boy thinks he’s UFC material,” one fan commented.

What’s interesting is that in 2024, Paul also tried to convince Triple H for a crossover fight. “Send me, send me.” Logan Paul stated and continued, “What do you mean [maybe]? I wrestled, and I wrestle now. I would totally do it, for the right dance partner. Yeah, I would love to do a UFC fight. Now, that you two are partners, at the right time it could make a lot of sense.”

Fans think it is best for him to not face a UFC fighter. Despite his large size, Logan Paul’s skillset was questioned. “Logan Paul honestly has no skills and is just all muscle, no skills. I’m pretty sure Mighty Mouse Johnson could make him tap easily too,” one fan noted. Another fan humorously pointed out, “It’s hilarious how one-sided this fight is because Logan could never outstrike Izzy. And if he does take down Izzy, Izzy just does the same button-mash choke on him 😂.”

Moreover, fans also suggested Paul improve his grappling, jokingly advising him to head to Dagestan, where wrestling and sambo are regarded as the world’s best. Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev have spoken highly of it and prefer it over BJJ and other wrestling styles.
