Jared Cannonier beat Marvin Vettori via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 75. Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier locked horns in the main event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. This fight was an opportunity for both fighters to improve their chances at earning another title shot.

The similarities between the two main event stars as they stepped into the cage were quite a few. Vettori came into the fight 3-2 in his last five. His only losses were to the champion Israel Adesanya and former champion Robert Whittaker. This was also the case for Cannonier, whose only two losses at middleweight were to the aforementioned fighters.

Therefore, the middleweight bout between the #3 and #4 ranked middleweights was a pivotal one for the division, and it did not disappoint.

Vettori and Cannonier went after it from the starting bell. While Vettori had his moments in the fight, ‘Killa Gorilla’ put his opponent on the back foot later. Vettori had to tough it out through the second and third rounds before getting confident on the feet again in the fourth.

However, that was not nearly enough, as Cannonier teed off on a depleted but defiant Vettori and completely dominated him until the end of the fifth round. In the end, the scorecards read 49-45, 49-45, and 48-46 in Cannonier’s favor.
