UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is preparing for his next challenge. ‘The Last Stylebender’ will take on the former champion, Robert Whittaker, at UFC 271 in a rematch. Both men previously met at UFC 243, where Adesanya knocked out the then champion in the second round.

As he prepares for his fourth title defense, Adesanya seems to have taken inspiration from a popular Marvel character.

In the latest photos posted by him, he is seen swimming and channeling his inner ‘Blade’- A popular Marvel character that was portrayed by Wesley Snipes in the live-action depiction.

The Last Stylebender’ wrote, “My name ain’t Wesley… but I snipe.”

Since winning the belt, the Nigerian-born New Zealand mixed martial artist has defended it thrice. However, he is not the only one on a streak, as ‘The Reaper‘ has bounced back in a big way since the defeat. Whittaker is currently on a three-fight win streak and has gone on to beat some of the top contenders in the division.

Fans have been waiting for the rematch ever since Adesanya put Whittaker to sleep, and it is finally happening.

The former champion has accepted that his ego was a big part of him not having his mind on the fight the last time. This has only motivated Adesanya and driven him to prepare in the best way possible, as he feels ‘The Reaper’ has a point to prove.

‘The Last Stylebender’ would be hoping to perform like Blade on the day of the fight in order to retain his title.
