It appears that the rivalry between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team hasn’t faded away with time. ‘The Notorious’ faced off against ‘The Eagle’ at UFC 229 in 2018 for a UFC lightweight championship bout and the pre-fight build-up saw both men engage in a heated feud with back-and-forth remarks being traded between the pair. The bout ended in a submission victory for Nurmagomedov as he secured a neck crank submission in the fourth round, but no one could have predicted what happened next.

Seconds after the fight was stopped, Nurmagomedov appeared to say something towards McGregor’s corner and threw his mouthpiece at them. He then proceeded to shock everyone in the arena as he climbed over the Octagon walls and soared through the air to land amongst the members of Team McGregor and a brawl ensued.

The scuffle spilled over into the cage as well as members of Team Nurmagomedov also stormed into the Octagon with punches being thrown at the Irishman. In a post-fight interview, Nurmagomedov revealed that trash talk from McGregor and his team regarding his family, nation, and religion, were the reasons why he decided to jump out of the Octagon. As a result of his actions, UFC CEO Dana White later revealed that Nurmagomedov was fined a significant amount of money by the NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission).

In a recent post shared on his Instagram account, Conor McGregor shared a video of himself in the cage defending himself against members of Team Khabib as they stormed the Octagon on that infamous night. The Irishman captioned the post, “FIGHTING’S ICON RETURNS, JUNE 29th, PPV! @ufc ☘️👑”. He also shared the video on his Instagram story where he added the caption, “30+ million views. 24 hours. PPV smasher. June 29th @UFC.”

The post drew a flurry of responses from the fans of ‘The Notorious’ as they flooded the comments section with their support for McGregor and their excitement for his return to the Octagon! Let’s take a look at what the fans had to say.

Fans rally behind Conor McGregor as he reminds Islam Makhachev of his “left hand” ahead of UFC 302 title defense

Dillon Danis, McGregor’s friend and teammate who was the target of Nurmagomedov’s ‘jump’ responded to the post by claiming they “cleaned up house”. When asked by Submission Radio why he chose to jump on Danis during the brawl, Nurmagomedov stated, “I jumped on him because other corner is too old; because Conor’s other corner, other coaches, too old…”

“@dillondanis: We cleaned up house”

One fan was impressed by McGregor’s ability to defend himself in a terrifying situation as he claimed that Team Khabib wasn’t prepared for ‘The Notorious’ to start firing back at them

“Russians think they jumping Conor but Conor jumpin them”

Another fan claimed that in their opinion, Conor McGregor may have lost the fight on the night but won the “war” against Team Khabib

“lost the fight but won the war”

Some fans pointed out that the video shows what appears to be Islam Makhachev trying to get to McGregor but ending up on the receiving end of the Irish fighter’s famed “left hand”

“Islam tasted that left hand”

The fact that Makhachev got tagged by McGregor’s punches was also brought up by another fan

“Looks like İslam got few punches in this video..”

A fan also fired back at critics of McGregor as they pointed out that defending oneself against other “pro” fighters in an all-out brawl after having fought 4 rounds of a championship bout is a display of ‘The Notorious’s remarkable toughness

“You guys acting like this ain’t tuff bro just fought 4 rounds and then a group of pro fighters after fighting another pro fighter all in one night”

This was also the night that one fan claimed that McGregor proved he is a force to be reckoned with in any form of altercation
