It is public knowledge at this point that regaining UFC title glory is a tougher task than actually claiming it the first time around. And this is something two former 205lbs kingpins can understand quite well. Jamahal Hill is coming back inside the Octagon for the first time in over nine months and is slated to collide against Jiri Prochazka, at UFC 311. Hill last competed at UFC 300 when he faced light heavyweight champ Alex Pereira.
This night ended disastrously with ‘Sweet Dreams’ losing the fight via KO in round 1, so Hill needs to climb the mountain again. Surprisingly, he has the support of the current 155lbs god-king, Islam Makhachev. In a recent conversation with Adin Ross, the Dagestani—who is up against Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 311—gave his choice for Hill vs. Prochazka. He said, “I see Jamahal every day in PI we are training someday together you know. He likes a lot of sparring he training you know. Between the fights, I told him ‘Hey be in shape between also’ because some of the time I saw him in, he is like very big.”
After showing concern for Hill’s off-training physique, he complimented his recent development during training. Makhachev said, “Now he is in the shape you know training so hard and he is a former champion and you know it’s a very good fight for the MMA fans it’s going to be high-level fights but I think Jamahal is going to win.”

Teddy Atlas has Jamahal Hill’s back for UFC 311
The International Boxing Hall of Famer sat down with his son, Teddy III Atlas, for a YouTube chat and shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight between Jamahal Hill and Jiri Prochazka. Interestingly, Atlas Sr. took Hill’s side in this matchup and offered some insightful advice on how ‘Sweet Dreams’ can defeat Prochazka.
He explained, “You know Jiri can reach in a little bit. And makes himself vulnerable to a counterattack from a guy like Hill who’s very capable of throwing counter shots because he has got good length. You know he has got good height, he knows how to control range. He will engage you, he will give up his height but I’ve seen him, where he can be disciplined too, where he can stay back. And he can allow you to make a mistake where he can walk you into a counter.”

Atlas went on to say that if he were in Hill’s corner, he would focus on capitalizing on any mistakes Prochazka might make. He believes that this approach would allow Hill to leverage his strengths and potentially take control of the fight.
