Islam Makhachev seemed to be very excited and amused over the withdrawal of Conor McGregor from the UFC 303 clash against Michael Chandler. Even though ‘The Notorious’ gave proper evidence of his toe injury by uploading the X-ray scan, Makhachev still took a dig at the fighter. Interestingly, it seems like his mockery has not ended yet because he recently decided to drag the beef and take a jibe at the former dual champion again. The champion decided to bring back the painful loss McGregor faced in UFC 257 and decided to talk about it again. This time he did it through Instagram stories by uploading a certain throwback video of the fight and wrote a subtle caption to go with it.
The lightweight champion was very subtle while taking a dig at the fighter as he uploaded an Instagram story. He simply uploaded the video of UFC 257 and captioned it by writing, “Love watching this.” UFC 257 happened in January 2021 and then the fateful match of UFC 264 took place on Jul 2021. This was a very dangerous night for the ‘Mystic Mac’ because it would bring him a two-year hiatus of over three years.
UFC 257 saw McGregor lose against Poirier, which was going to be the start of the former’s series of losses to Poirier. McGregor was coming off a win against Donald Cerrone while Poirier last fought Dan Hooker. Poirier used his grappling skills to keep McGregor against the cage. The former dual champion got the upper hand in round 2, but Poirier finished the game with a flurry of punches that sent the Irishman toppling to the ground. However, UFC 257 was just the trailer for what was going to happen at UFC 264.

This fight was again against Dustin Poirier and ‘The Diamond’ not only won via KO in round one but also injured his opponent to almost no recovery. This was the fight where Connor McGregor hurt his shin and had to get surgery where a particular metal plate was inserted inside his leg. His leg had swollen during the fight, and his coach had also spoken to Ariel Helwani about how they thought that there was no bound damage.
They were just waiting for an x-ray to come back, but the news was extremely grave after the reports came back. Both the fights were won by Poirier and McGregor had to go through surgery, which started his hiatus. After that, he was supposed to come back against Michael Chandler at UFC 303. However, he again injured his pinky toe and had to sit out.
He is planning to come back this year in December, but nothing has been confirmed by the promotion. On the other hand, Makhachev is not stopping at taking digs at the fighters, be it now or previously.

Islam Makhachev called out McGregor after UFC 303 pull out
‘Mystic Mac’ decided to post the x-ray of the injury on social media after there were questions over the authenticity of the reason behind his pull out from the fight against Chandler. However, he was subjected to insults from Islam Makhachev. The latter said, “You don’t need a pinkie toe for a fight lol. Chicken.” He even took a jibe at Michael Chandler, who would have to wait more because the fight got canceled.
Makhachev compared Chandler to Hachiko, the loyal dog who used to wait for his owner diligently at a train station in Japan. One day, the owner passed away, but the dog still came to the station every day at the same time, waiting for the owner. The Dagestani taunted Chandler on X, saying, “And my condolences to Michael ‘Hachiko’ Chandler.”

The fighter has shown interest in fighting McGregor before solely for one reason: money. It seems like the plans might change because recently McGregor, as well as Chandler, hinted at a comeback in December even though Dana White has made seemed positive about the bout happening anytime soon.
