Islam Makhachev and Conor McGregor shared an arena and it wasn’t for an MMA fight. Fate or otherwise, McGregor, the former lightweight UFC champion was seated just across the reigning champion of the same, Makhachev. So it might be safe to say that the possibility of the two coming face-to-face has the fans on the edge.

While McGregor is preparing to return to the cage, Makhachev remains the undisputed champ. Consequently, fans were quick to demand a matchup between the two. It would also be especially interesting owing to the Irishman’s infamous Khabib Nurmagomedov storyline. So could a matchup bring back old forgotten nightmares for the ‘Mystic Mac?’ Here’s more.

Conor McGregor and Islam Makhachev sat across one another very recently at IBA Champions Night. A video of the two of them sitting across has been doing the rounds on social media. However, despite their rich history which includes ‘The Eagle’, nothing much happened.

Both of them were there as fans of boxing and professionals in the field. And despite McGregor’s character, he did not engage Makhachev in any capacity whatsoever. On the other hand, the lightweight champ was just super-zoned in on the fight.

Will the two ever square up? ‘The Notorious’ has a potential match against fellow lightweight fighter Michael Chandler. Perhaps the winner of the two could work their way and go up against Makhachev himself. The champ has yet to call anyone out.

And given his nature, he isn’t going to either. Makhachev has made a point out of asking the UFC to throw fights at him instead of doing callouts.
