Joe Rogan and Bobby Green might just be on the same page about one thing. The UFC fighter and famous podcaster may not have spoken about this together, but their claims certainly put them in a certain sort of agreement. Doping is still a massive controversy in the MMA world. It’s a controversy, only because it has loopholes that can be exploited.

And according to Rogan and Green, they’re being exploited by some fighters everyone loves. Could this be the real reason some of the UFC’s top fighters have been so dominant in their whole runs? It’s important to know that the USADA is the organization that tests fighters before clearing them for fights. How could someone possibly abuse this?

Bobby Green and his claims add credibility to Rogan’s ideas

Recently, Green appeared on the Jaxxon podcast. Here, the fighter went vocal about a number of issues. Most importantly, he spoke about how he believes the Russian fighters cheat in the UFC. A recent famous example is Islam Makhachev who has been accused of using an IV before the Alexander Volkanovski fight. But is there any truth to the rumors?

“I just be feeling like the Russians be cheating right now,” said Green. “For instance, Khabib and Islam and them, they go to a mosque you know … you can’t go inside, you can’t come in here for months. They can do whatever they want to do.”

On an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the host of the podcast has also expressed his concerns regarding drug abuse in the UFC. Those concerns followed a similar tone to Green’s. The truth is, where USADA can’t reach, drug trials don’t work out.

“Oh yeah, they’re not traveling to the mountains of Dagestan to give people pi** test,” said Rogan. His claims just lend more support to the idea of the USADA being a fundamentally flawed organization. If the limitations outdo their benefits, then there is a major problem. In theory, every fighter can just begin training in a remote area unreachable by the USADA and fool the drug test.

Did Islam Makhachev test positive for PEDs before?

Technically, yes, Islam Makhachev did test positive for using a PED. This was back in 2016 when the fighter failed to pass his drug test. The substance found in his bloodstream was meldonium. The substance is associated with higher energy levels as it helps the body burn glucose instead of fat. Makhachev received a temporary ban for using the substance. Green brought the incident up during his conversations.

“Actually, Islam got caught for drugs. You know when he first came,” said Green. “But he was like oh I didn’t know. This is all the stuff that Russia was giving us as we were kids . . . they said it was vitamins.”

So, has the Dagestani fighter found other ways to abuse drugs now? The fighter himself obviously claims to never have used any PEDs. On the other hand, several MMA professionals such as Dan Hooker have accused him of cheating. Makhachev is now due for his rematch against Charles Oliveira at UFC 294. Who will take home the belt and who will do it fairly? We’ll find out on October 21.
