Dominick Reyes has been on a steep downward trend since his loss to then-light heavyweight champion Jon Jones four years ago. While no man has been able to defeat the GOAT contender in the octagon, ‘The Devastator’ came closer than anybody.

Many feel that the Mexican-American was cheated out of a rightful victory against ‘Bones’, as 14 of the 21 media outlets had Reyes winning the fight, while only seven scored it in favor of Jones. Undefeated going into the Jones fight, Reyes has lost all four of his fights since then. Currently ranked #15, and at the risk of losing his ranked fighter status, the 34-year-old is gearing up to face unranked Dustin Jacoby on the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs. Imavov this Saturday. Ahead of the consequential bout, we take a look at what we know about Reyes’s partner and kids.

Who is Dominick Reyes’ girlfriend? Do they have kids?

Dominick Reyes did not have much time for romance in his early life. The California native originally wanted to get into the NFL. After a promising college football career at Stony Brook University, which saw the Southpaw become captain of the team and become the all-time Stony Brook leader in solos tackles, he ultimately went undrafted in the NFL.

Although he received a fair amount of attention from NFL teams, his speed was classed ‘Average’ in the 2013 NFL Draft. The result was that he was not drafted by any team, which broke the Mexican-American’s heart.

Having received his B.S. in Information Systems at Stony Brook, he eventually took a job at a local school. Frustrated at how his life had turned out, he took up martial arts more as a way to vent his frustration than anything else. Which started him off on the journey that would eventually take him to the UFC in 2017.

As he goes through a bad patch in his career and looks to bounce back to the top of the 205-pound division, Reyes has the invaluable love and support of his girlfriend, Brenda Lupian. The latter is a University of Nevada-Las Vegas alumni and has worked as an Administrative Assistant at Wilson Advisory Center and as a specialist at Bank of America.

Their relationship seems to be going strong, as ‘The Devastator’ took to Instagram on Lupian’s birthday last October to wish her and express how ‘blessed’ he was to have her in his life. “Happy Birthday to my beautiful Woman @duhitsbrenda. You are Such a beautiful soul I have been blessed to celebrate life with you! ✨❤️,” he wrote.

The couple does not have any kids and for a very surprising reason.

Dominick Reyes reveals the reason he never had a kid

As we have seen, Reyes does not have any kids. For a simple reason: his single-minded focus on becoming a champion. In an interview after the Jones fight, Reyes stated: “My whole life up to this point has been getting the belt, that’s been everything. That’s why I don’t have a wife or kids.”  For which, he frankly admitted that he “had to be selfish.”

However, with his loss to Jones, and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, he had a change of heart, and he “realized things are different now, and I decided to get a companion.” It was at this time that he, the Mexican-American, finally found time to date and is currently with Lupian, whom he has been seeing since at least last year.

Now, however, Reyes is gearing up for a fateful fight. A win would help him keep his position in the top-15 of the top-heavy light heavyweight division and make his way to another title shot. A loss, on the other hand, would see him crash out of the rankings entirely, which would be a devastating blow for someone who almost dethroned Jon Jones, perhaps the greatest mixed martial artist ever, just four years ago.
